Hi, I had jaw surgery 3 weeks ago and am on a no chew diet. I still have 3 weeks to go and could use some new ideas of what to eat. Any help would be great.

Aww! Hope you heal quickly & completely! I came this close to having surgery to correct an underbite and the food list is really what scared me off. A MONTH AND A HALF without a steak? :thud It was elective, thank god.

What have you been eating?
Mashed potatoes, blended with the skins on (white or sweet), soups blended in the blender, faux-tatoes (steamed & mashed cauliflower with cream cheese) Smoothies made with yogurt, veggies & a little fruit, pudding, pate made with almost any soft cooked meat you can think of, hummus, soft scrambled eggs, creamed spinach, mashed bananas with yogurt, applesauce, pear sauce, peach sauce (just whirl in the food processor or blender til smooth)
How's that?

How about Lima bean Soup?

Soak lima beans over night.
Rinse and cook lima beans for a couple hours.
Rinse again and cook.
Now add vegetables.
Carrots
Celery
Onions
Potatoes
Tomatoes
Any any other vegetables you like in soup.
Add Chicken stock and fat or butter.
Or a large bone. Ham or beef.
Small amounts of meat.
Any spices you like.
When it is all cooked put it in the blender.
It is really good with croutons but you could eat it with a straw if you want.

Wow, that's no fun. I had a toothache earlier this year & it was too painful to chew even oatmeal or scrambled eggs. I lived on pudding, mashed potatoes, & smooth soups (tomato, mostly) for a week. But noobiechickenlady had some great ideas. :)

Thanks guys this sounds good. I hadn't thought of the faux potatoes. I have been drinking v-8 to help with the vegies. Found out chicken doesn't do so well in the blender. the texture is chalky. I have cream of wheat for breakfast. Have done chili, soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, sugar free pudding, apple sauce and ramen. Guess I am just getting bored.

I'd be blending up a hamburger!! For the sake of variety though, cheese melts really well, and is great in mashed potatoes. I would try different seasonings to change the flavors of things, and there is always ice cream, chocolates, and candies that will melt in your mouth. If I couldn't eat for that long I'd be miserable. Meal time is my favorite time of the day  :p
