I have tried to go no-poo (yes, I too thought this was a constipation thread!). My hair was really flat and greasy within a week. So I tried castille soap on it for a couple of months- dried it out horribly. Went back to my (cheap Suave) shampoo (that I dilute 1/2 and 1/2- I hate thick shampoo, I don't feel it gets anything but the top layer of hair) for a couple of months now. I do use WV rinse, but that's more to get the hard water deposits off the hair from our horrendously hard water. I'm afraid it makes my hair smell like a salad, though.
I'm considering trying some of my home made soap on my hair once I get back to a sort of baseline.
Well, I ended up telling my mom and SO about no-poo.
My mom only washes her hair once a week, so no surprises there. She was interested (not in an I-want-to-do-that way).
SO had an OMG look on his face and was trying to figure out how it didn't get greasy. His hair gets oily fast. He says he can "grease a pan with my head" if he skips a shower.
We took DS to a bookstore to pick out a birthday present. There was a book on display about a little girl that never brushes her hair. SO pointed it out to me and started laughing at me. I had to gently remind him that I brush my hair, I just won't WASH it.
If they had no idea that I was going no-poo, then it must be going well!
Today I'm thinking that I'll be able to go longer in between rinsing my hair. It is day 4 since the last rinse and I think I'll be able to go 5 days. That is GREAT because I use a straightening iron after everytime I get my hair wet. Not only is it a hassle, but I worry about damage to my hair.
