No Superstore Challenge

Moon, as soon as I make mine, I will post. The video I watched was from "DoingItCheap", a real character, LOL. BUT while the process was there, he was the type of cook who just added by sight/taste. That's fine, I do also. Now, my thought on adding by taste with an alcoholic drink may lead to not knowing what you did after enough tasting.

The bottle size was 750ml, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, coffee, was pretty much stable, THEN chocolate syrup & vanilla extract was, lol, iffy....just adding. So, I hope to be a little more precise with those items. Then use whiskey to fill the bottle and I'm ok with that part. There could be some individual taste preference for each person -- that's fine. I'd like to come pretty close to the actual Baileys. :drool

Maybe Icertuche has a more "defined" recipe. I'm a willing "tester" :ya:hide

The best thing for keeping me out of the store-ANY store, not just a super store, is my garden. If I can go pick it or open a jar or take a package out of the freezer, then that is a trip not taken to the store.

I just bought my groceries for the week. $46 and that included coffee and some medication for my aching back! Lol. I finally stopped bringing my debit card with me, I write a very specific list and only bring enough cash for what I need!

I spend a lot more money on grain and hay than I do at the grocery store!

I don't on the days I'm stocking up but when I have meat in the freezer I do pretty well. Using up my last ham hock this week to make soup, good thing it's butcher time!

I can't find my old recipe but as best as I can remember it was made with a very strong pot of coffee (not instant) and no condensed sweetened milk, but this was the only thing I could find from the internet. Let us know how it comes out.

Bailey's Irish Cream. Well, looked at video and she used almost what I did.

750 ML bottle......
1 can swtnd condensed milk.....she also added 1 c hvy cream
1 tblsp choco syrup
1 tsp vanilla
3 oz STRONG coffee......she used 1 tsp inst powder
Fill balance with whiskey....she used 1 2/3 whiskey (close to same)

So mine was good but a touch stronger than I would do next time. So, added a little more cream to smooth out. A lot depends on the whiskey. I bought Canadian Mist and should have added a little short of full & tasted. All in all, very good and very, very close. Everyone could tweak the flavorings if wanting a touch different -- to own taste. It's like adding seasoning. The basic is there and total coast was less than $5 a bottle. I will do this again, just short my whiskey a little (Canadian is strong) They had a Jameson Irish for about $8 here, vice $11 for the CM. Your area will have much different cost for whiskey. Most of us just need to buy a can of Swtnd Crm....:p...most else is in cabinet. Often I have the cream, too.
