I do think respect for the animal's life is very important. I think that is the problem today. People do not acknowledge or respect that MEAT means something died.

I agree! I've noted the attitude that we are big meanies killing animals ourselves to eat, I have to restrain myself from saying "And what did YOU have for lunch?" Most of my friends are big animal lovers but not vegans. I've been known to say lately to people....eaten any chicken at McDonalds? They are known to treat their birds REALLY well.... in a very sarcastic voice of course.

Well, we had an extraordinary duck supper last night. Does that help? :) Duck with cranberry sauce, green beans, and pumpkin bread-mushroom stuffing. Mmmmmm... Yummy ducks.

Drake #2 was dispatched last night. I bought new knives at Tuesday Morning on clearance and I also bought a knife sharpening kit. The drake I made in to food wasn't one of the drakes I bought last week. It was the drake I hatched last year. He was a jerk. I got tired of him going after my feet and I caught him beating up one of my hens the last 2 days in a row.

That sealed his fate. So now I have 2 silver welsh harlequin boys and 5 girls. I do need a drake from a different blood line, but these 2 boys will be fine for now. Hopefully they will be nice to the girls and enjoy their reprieve. If not, I still have that cone and those new knives....

:D

Now this time I plucked. Holy cow what a pain! Even with a scalding dunk and some soap in the water, those feathers did NOT want to come off. It didn't help that I started late and it was dark at my picnic table work station. So the bird I took inside was far from clean. I plucked until I got tired of it and now the bird is brining. I can still see more feathers :p

LOL
