I'm sorry, I got lost. Who is Benjamin? And what does his baby have to do with anything?
hee hee hee hee

A+ for Abi !!!

and yeah FF the whole system does suck. its worse if you've had some success then have to "go back." i know some companies who'd actually pay tuition... but you have to be there first. i know someone (not in the tech industry) who was told "if ONLY she had her degree" they'd give her a raise and the official title of the work she was already doing. so ok fine she did. worked her butt off for several years going to school at nite...... and then she ran into work waving her Piece of Paper....and... and...

her boss was all, "well we aint got no money for a raise and we never really said that... but here's a big stack of work to do and can you train the new girl who we just hired at the official title and who already makes more money that you?"

nice. the system does suck.

the only good news for me is that i didnt get sucked into the mindset of 'why have just one degree when you can have more!' and "you'll make more money with a Masters"...sure it grated on me when *** I *** had to train the MBA's so they could be my boss, take my work, and say it was theirs....but i also know a lot of folks who spent time trying to get an advanced degree. did it. and now cant get a job.

the worst is someone i barely know - but he tried to get a job for almost 2 years with his shiny new MBA..... and then gave up. he said he'd rather die then have to go thru the job hunt again...so he's working odd jobs and trying to start his own business. just gutting.

TBM and i were talking about some of this and we think a lot of it comes down to loyalty. and unlike any other time, wow having loyalty to a company just doesnt pay off at all.
:-(

anyway

so october continues out there. for heavens sakes...its super dark and drizzled most of the day yesterday. the good news is that i'm getting some stock made and i'll can that later. but there's just no way to work outside in all the mud. boooo mud!

happy thursday, such as it is...
:)

morning, ofg!

good posts everyone about the jobs, etc. It totally sucks job wise in our area, and I go back and forth with wanting to move where we have a better chance of FINDING work, to realizing that with owning the land (finally! only E's name is on it! YAY) and house and not having any bills other than utilities and property taxes, we have it pretty good here. Truth is, we couldn't AFFORD to move to a more populated area where there were more job opportunities, because we'd be making just enough to pay rent/house payment, and the bills. And there'd always be the fear of not meeting the rent/payment and losing the home.

There's not that fear here, so maybe I don't have a whole lot of financial security due to no jobs, but we do odd things and make just enough to cover basic necessities, so there is security in having a roof over ones head that can't be re-po'ed and land that I can plant what I want on and have whatever animal I want....

E has even suggested, and be open to, getting a pair of Emu's! *thud*

His last name was Franklin and he likes to live on green paper bills. :tongue Not that I have seen him for a long, long time. :hu

BTW I thought no ('s) but the grammar checker was arguing with me.

It has cooled off here a bunch as well OFG - but the sun is shinning!! :D Don't get stuck in the mud today.

As a retired medical transcriptionist, I can tell you that grammar checkers are OFTEN wrong!

it is not so much the grammar checker being wrong as it is the fact that "benjamins" isn't really a correct way of saying it and it doesn't recognize the slang for the bills. :)

Yep. Corporations have destroyed all incentive for loyalty. Pretty stupid of them. The repercussions of that are employees feeling rather compelled to steal work and clients.

ohh.... that they are de-licious and those wattley things kinda creep me out. but yum-O!

well darn.

we lost one of our good old hens today.
:-(

but

the good news is that we moved the pigz into the new day yard for the goats Nibbles and Dahlia.... the pigz are going to town on all the underbrush. Nibs and Dahlia are glad they dont have to go there anymore. i received a number of complaints and they just werent even making a dent in the brush. but then they'd run up to the hen/goat yard and eat everything there. goats. its like they do it on purpose.

onward.

I just read your blog post about your old hen Pebbles. It made me cry :hit (the fact that I just had a baby 9 weeks ago and my hormones are still out of whack had nothing to do with it)
