If you get goat babies today, you should name them after that blinding thing in the sky that we rarely see. Just so you remember the one day in winter it came out.

I dunno.. maybe something is happening with that goat.

The Big Man is teasing me that the video of the blessed event will basically be a 5 second shot of the goat, then the camera obviously falling over, with a long shot of the barn roof....followed shortly by the dogs trying to drag my passed out body to safety.

there wont be any video, btw. i mean seriously, who needs to see me passing out and being hauled off by the EMT's? give me a good knife and something to gut - no problem. live birth? just get the smelling salts....

yes and i cant believe it. i'm still trying to figure out what the heck its all about. good thing we are fixin' to dress those males next week... i'd hate to be hauled off for illegal duck activities.

It looked to me like it is still legal to raise them for the table.
Calling them pets was illegal though. So don't let the wildlife guys see you sitting there with a scovy on each shoulder and one on your lap telling them that you will never send them to freezer camp.

Any advertising better have them labeled as "good eating". So does it count if your meat bird just died of old age????

Guys, I called Fish and Wildlife today - and no one at that office knew anything about this "law/ban" on 'scovies - they didn't even know how to spell Muscovies. If this was (as the thread references) proposed buy FWS, then why do they not have any knowledge/records of it. The people I spoke with (and it was several) at FWS couldn't find anything about this law in their systems, nor did they know anything about needing permits after March 31 to have these ducks for meat purposes.

Then I called our Ohio Department of Ag - none of THEM knew about this law, either. They transfered me to our State Vet and he asked me, "Are they going extinct?!"

He's checking into it more, too, because he knew nothing about this law.

Now, wouldn't it make sense that if this is going to be an enforceable law by March 31, then shouldn't these people know about it by now?? shouldn't they have this info so they can get their "ducks in a row" so to speak to enforce the law?
