Okay, so who watched the inauguration? What did you think?

I have the same view as Pat in a way.
Actions speak louder than words.
Speeches are great, cause most times they are exactly what we want to hear. So now it is what happens next!!!

Didn't see or hear any of it because I was either in the OB's or running around getting stuff down to head off to the hospital.

I was busy and missed the coronation ( I think that I had a hair appointment, or something). I find it hard to get enthused over the selection of a president whose voting record, on issues that I care about, is 180 degrees out of sync. I respect the office of the president, however I can hardly wish him success in office, since his stated policies and objectives are so radically socialist.

I guess that I will just bitterly cling to my religion and my guns for the next four years and hope for the best. ;)

I missed the speech, because I honestly don't prioritize politics in my life. However I watched some of the later coverage on tv. The thing I like the most is that the Obama's are a young family. I think our country needs that perspective more than anything right now. We have not been prioritizing for the future. That said, I agree that I don't know how much actual power Barak will have. If nothing else, it seems his life successes are giving young people hope for their own lives. I think that is a great thing.

Again, I preface this with the fact that I wish Obama all the best, and I definitely am hoping for a president who is relatively free of scandal and who respects the actions of the legislature, and doesn't just do whatever he wants, but this was verrrry interesting:

I don't believe that Obama really shares too many views with Bush, but it was a reminder to me that, yes, he is a politician, and should be scrutinized as much as any other.

Plus, I LOVE Jon Stewart, and am very happy to see that he's still keeping a sharp eye on what's going on.

I try not to follow politics or make them a priority in my life, either. I'm a little uncomfortable with people calling this man Obamessiah
( for obvious reasons) and am intrigued by the incredible large following he has garnered, though he doesn't have any track record whatsoever in the political arena.

That said, my life is affected little by who is in the Oval Office and I feel that what will be, will be, so I don't get frashed about any of it. ;)

I didn't watch any other time a president was inaugerated and I didn't watch this one either. :)

Growing up we always listened to the speech, or read it in the paper the next day. That doesn't mean we built our life around it; we never have. I let God do my worrying for me, that's what I was taught to do.

Just seems we always had young men in the family that might have to go to battle.......

I purposely missed it. I don't even turn on the TV. I am sick of hearing about Obama. I have plenty of what a politician spews in my compost heap anyway. I really don't want to hear his bull I will just wait and see what he does. I am honestly sure I will not like the majority of it anyway.
