Unfortunately, it did :(

I had to drop two extra classes because I was finally able to get into PSEO courses.

Post Secondary Enrollment Options, so basically I can take college courses for free while in highschool and they transfer to the college I go to.

For senior year I only needed an English credit and half of a history credit to graduate, but I didn't know that in time to start them. Looking back, I could have doubled up English and graduated half a year early if I wanted, or taken four college courses the first semester, and six for the second semester. At this time, I knew nothing about these courses that I could have been taking, what my options were, or any of it.

My adviser didn't let me know about any of these until first semester was nearing the end.
She sent me an email stating that a local college was teaming up with the school and offering some courses that were also online that would be able to double over. For example, if I was taking a high school math class, I could take the math class with the college instead and it would count towards college credit. I thought, great, I'll go that route and signed up for some. Soon after, she sent another email saying that, due to lack of interest, they would no long be offering the courses for us (I was later able to contact the college privately and get set up for the ones I wanted though)

So, for a synopsis, basically I was jipped and screwed over by an incompetent fool who failed to do her job correctly. Thankfully the school fired her lazy ass soon after. I did complain to the head of it, but they said there was nothing they could do and apologized. Big whoop.

Obviously I'm still really ticked about it. When I talked to a friend who attends the same school, she said that her adviser let her know all her options, helped her find and choose colleges that met her criteria, gave her a list of colleges within the state that offered PSEO courses online, etc. What did mine do? She emailed me a total of ten times maybe, and probably called me four times. Bitch.

Rant over.

We used to have an old saying that applies here.

"Those who can do. Those who can't do OR teach become school guidance councilors"

My son had a doozy as well. If it weren't for our diligence he would probably still be in school. This guy couldn't even remember my son's name and he is a bit distinct, I mean how many 6'2" red headed Vikings are in the average high school?

Well in Missouri anyway they were few and far between!

Anyway a guidance counselor should at least be able to remember the name of the person he is guiding through high school into graduation after "helping" them for 3 years. :/
