I buy local first. After that... well "organic" doesn't really mean anything any more, so I don't really bother.

We buy organic when it comes to fruit. The flavor difference is rather extreme.

I sniff the fruit til I find something that might have flavor. Apples - usually organic.

For the "Dirty Dozen", I always buy organic. These carry the highest pesticide load. Fortunately, I have over half of the list growing in my garden.

DIRTY DOZEN:
1. Celery
2. Peaches
3. Strawberries
4. Apples
5. Domestic blueberries
6. Nectarines
7. Sweet bell peppers
8. Spinach, kale and collard greens
9. Cherries
10. Potatoes
11. Imported grapes
12. Lettuce

Besides that, I buy organic milk, and any corn products either organic or labeled non-GMO.

I agree, the "organic" label just doesn't mean what it used to, so I sort of ignore it except that it does still mean no GMO. So for processed stuff like crackers I go for the organic. Otherwise I buy locally produced fruits and veggies as much as I can. It's looking like our garden will be a bust except for the 3 sisters which is going great! So, will be buying tomatoes to can for our home made pizzas, as well as maybe hot peppers.
