Unfortunately we were too late to grow any from seed this year, so we have a few different varieties from the local garden centre, but nothing really exciting. Looking forward to San marzano next year.moolie said:Looks delicious! Our beans are just now getting to size. What varieties of tomatoes do you grow?

Very nice! The ones we have are cropping incredibly well, but the larger varieties, which are enormous, lack flavour. Will be growing centiflor types next year as well.moolie said:Well, they look beautifulJohn_henry said:Unfortunately we were too late to grow any from seed this year, so we have a few different varieties from the local garden centre, but nothing really exciting. We're growing San Marzano, Rutgers/New Jersey, Early Girl, and Yellow Pear--the Yellow Pear are coming on slowly but the others are doing really well. We also started Tiny Tim (a cherry variety) but they got blight before we even put them outside (I think the seed must have been infected) so we had to throw those away.
Some of the larger varieties can be quite watery, we try to stick with smaller fruited varieties and like the roma/paste types best along with a few cherry/grape plants.John_henry said:The ones we have are cropping incredibly well, but the larger varieties, which are enormous, lack flavour.
Had to look that one up, had never heard of them but they look fascinating! Be sure to keep us up to date next year when you grow themJohn_henry said:Will be growing centiflor types next year as well.
