Thanks! This is my first time trying so I may have to ask advice! Any good sites that give the plant to SF ratio? I don't want to crowd them but want to maximize my space!
Oh and Miki I would love some tips on canning. I am not a great gardener but I will help in any way I can when you get your garden going!
Hope everyone has a great day! I am off to get bed #2 put up and finish my morning chores!
its not got everything on it, but the stuff it does have it tells you exactly how many per sqft and you could probably easily "assume" other veggies based on those numbers
I have the book, Square Foot Gardening. Another good one is Postage Stamp gardening. I don't use the raised beds, but still use this type of method. I've been growing stuff on my fence, but because of ground hogs, will instead be putting up a trellis in my garden. It saves so much room w/vine plants.
It's cool that you have a horse rescue. My Arab was a rescue.
Got bed #2 almost completed..just got one more board and need to fill it up!
Deb that's great you have a rescue horse! They truly are magnificent creatures. This is Dahlila..she was in the kill pen and headed to Mexico the next day when I pulled her out.. She will be shown this spring..She is a sweet lil mare.
Well I am off to the barn to do evening chores and the local Girl Scout troop is coming to earn their horse badges today! Going to be a busy afternoon!
First pic is small..couldn't get it to get any larger..
This is Sauro (sorrow)..she had a haystring wrapped around her neck and was about starved..you can see she is now a fat and sassy pony..my boys will be showing her in 4-H this year..
Didn't get near enough done today!! Got to clean my house....at some point..
I had a rescue horse too... LOVED him, and miss him dearly. I would love to have a sanctuary like that if we ever get around to having enough land.
Here's Casper two weeks after the auction where I bought him... he was almost 400 pounds underweight (he was a 17.2 hand thoroughbred)
And just 6 months later teaching my three year old niece to ride:
Not to hijack your journal... I'm just so proud of Casper and what a great horse he was. He had a passport and before me he competed in international show jumping, I contacted his old owner from his passport (she cried when she heard what happened to him) and she sent me his picture from jumping days
