Ive seen them used a lot in the south, but not a clue how theyd work with 2,3,4ft of snow on the ground...
ive thought about them s portable shelters for pasturing the mini pigs on the front shelter but I just couldn't envision them as being warm....
will def keep it in mind if we cant find enough pallets to finnish off...

the price difference though is definatly a little more right now...I can finnish the pallet shelter for $60 even if I need all new ply for the sides...where as the polydomes are $200...if we can save that $140 here and put it into something else...even better especially since we NEED to repair the shed before winter

dumpster arrived today, we will be empting out the old shed, dads going to patch/repair it, and hopefully itll see us through another couple of years im pretty sure were going to turn a few feet in back into a shelter for the ducks and geese, put up a fence and gae inside and a piece of remnant vinyl...itll be the easiest quickest way...

but yeah, thats what were gonna be doing the next few days....weve got it for 2 weeks but I realy wanna just get it done get that 1 more project out of the way...

oh and took advantage of the rainy day today and cleaned my room...still got boxes to unpack, still got a ong ways to complete...but...yeah...its clean lol

Pink if you get a remnant of vinyl get the fiberglass backed vinyl if possible. The regular felt backed stuff wont last as long because the backing will mold. The fiberglass backed vinyl won't have that problem so you will get a much longer life out of it.

don't know about 2-4 ft of snow but it worked well in 18-24 inches of snow. i face them away from prevailing winds and every one stays snug as a bug in a rug. even put a small roost in one and used it for a trio of blue marans to live in while they were quarantined from the rest of the girls

The cost factor is the biggest decision. They would probably work, but if you have a cheaper solution, why not? The pallet sheds could be painted with bright colors too, lol.

so agree about cost. i paid $50. each for mine from the lady down the road, just sayin' how easy to use and useful they have been to me.

the good news is ive found a few sources for pallets so that still works out the cheapest method got to go pick up 2 to do the goat shelter but ive got all the rest of the pieces I need for that, including the roof
mum wants it painted barn red with white trim and the red roof to match the barn and shed which will both get repainted in the spring itll also match the little red chicken coops. (can we see a theme?)

we started working on the shed yesterday, its almost completely empty but we now have a driveway full of stuff thatll need to be yay/nayd befoe being put back. dad wants to put up some shelves to make it more organized too. the roof NEEDS doing though it leaks so badly we might as well currently not have a roof on it at all lol.
so today the ob is move the pellet fule to the front of the shed for easier acess, continue clearing out the back corner behind where the pellets are now...im HOPING dad will go get the roof today because if it doesn't get done asap all the pellets are gonna get ruined...
plus we realy need to go pick up he other 3 ton asap from TSC, there gonna be awesome and hold ours a little longer than layaway usually allows, but we don't want to take advantage.

I also need to work on getting bubbles and squeak settled in at the barn...while is fun having them in the house and mum doesn't realy want to...its also a constant job of cleaning up, were picking up the little male on the 1st (hes in a commercial so we have ot wait lol) and hell then stay in the house for a few days just to get used to us before moving up to the barn. this also means ive got some work to do on the fencing in the back pasture to make sure its piggy safe. im gonna get a roll of welded wire to secure the bottom 12" or so along the back fence (he rest of the fences have chainlink over them) until they know what the electric fence is...
I also need to instal a low line cutoff switch for when the snow comes.

Way to go on the shed! I hear you on the roof issues! The landlord was going to get a quote for fixing the hay barn roof here, it would be really awesome if he does! Roofs are a pain!

they realy are...I actually LIKE shingling...I just don't do ladders and cant lift super heavy stuff up high so give me something about waist height and ill shingle all day long LOL! but that roof was a pain...we got half of it done (he side the fules going under) and next weekend will be working on the other side.
we had the barn re-roofed when we had the house done, but the sheds in such bad shape dad didn't want to invest the money into replacing the roof only to have to rip it down in a year or 2..he didn't think the damage was as extensive as it is though...I knew it would be worse than he thought but he didn't belive me...he ended up pretty much replacing the whole roof on that one side and the other side at least 1/2 needs to go...but...its still cheaper than replacing the shed...

been busy this orning and just stopping for some brunch and a drink...the boys goaty house is now sheathed in ply...its a bit of a pach job on front but nothing wom wood putty, a light sand, paint and some cute trim cant duisguise...
I still need to trim down 1 edge....then its the roof...the roof dad was going to help me with yesterday but the shed roof took us way too long lol.
im trying to do this pretty much with scraps, a jigsaw, a drill and a pack of screws lol. the good news is the main structure is solid as a rock lol. a couple of l brackets in the corners and its surprisingly sturdy!
ive got the prefab fiber glass type stuff roofing to go ontop so its pretty much a screw in and yay situation...but im not good at angles and will need some sort of frame for the roof to sit on...
so im now pulling up pictures to see what I can figure out...ill figure it though
I need to, because mums decided buble and squeak shouldn't go in the barn because "the goats might pick on them" (and in reality I realy ont want to mess with more fencing in the back lol) so im going to have to build a second one of these pallet shelters for the piggies...and with our male piglet supposed to be coming home tomorrow things need to move forward...these young ladies do not need to be in the house lol
