well the sller is going to hold them untill Thursday for me :D

ill be picking up a 1yr old broken opal and a 1yr old broken castor doe on Thursday to temporarily occupy hutches 1 and 2.

planning on breeding to cindis rex buck, will be interesting to see what colors come out of that lol.
will probably keep 1 doeling out of each girl, sell what i can as pets/breeders an anything left over at 12 weeks will head to freezer and fur camp...
which may be many or may be none...right now the money side of things is just as important as putting meat in the freezer, and might acutlaly be a little more so so if i can sell them alive, i absolutly will!

the girls are aparently right around a year old (she said shell give me all the info that morning) the Opals last litter was 7 live, and the castor 9 live...so some nce litter sizes on both.
neither however have names.
thatll get fixed pretty quick once i see thier personlities lol.
im realy excited :)

now i just have to find the best place and price for feed and hay. lol.
ive got acess to TSC and co-op.
planning on limiting feed and free choice on hay so hay quality and orice are more important (i figure a 40lb bag of pellets will last me quite a wihle if feed as more of a treat than a main diet lol)
now the plan is to try and figure out how many square bales ill need to last a month and where im going to kep them so they dont get wet and go moldy lol.

one of my need to builds will eventually be a rabbitry/duck storage shed, which will be a 4x8x4 storage shed to hold a can of rabbit pellets, a can of duck feed and some square bales of timmothy hay and straw.
i plan on having a much larger storage unit for the other feed ect but i want something that will be in the rabbit area to hold the things i need regularly for them so im not carrying things all around the place all the time lol. ease and efficiency will be the name of the game around here lol.

squee!

what kind of hay do you get for your bunnies, and what feed do you use...and where do you buy/how much if ya dont mind me asking.
right now tsc has producers price and manna at around $15 for a 50lb bag.
but they dont seem to sell timmothy hay (only alfalfa)

co-op doesnt list thier prices online

Mine get regular old hay from the Co-op. They sell small bags of timmothy and alfalfa in TSC and WalMart and I sometimes get those for treats. I haven't seen it in bales around here :hu I do know where to get cereza that is supposed to be really good, but I think it's all RB's, I have been meaning to ask about price and such. I use the Manna Pro for mine especially when it's on sale, but I have used the Producer's Pride as well. I always get 50 lb. bags. Both seem to be about the same for the most part, but I prefer the Manna Pro, it's just SO HIGH usually. Then I give mine scraps and such as well. They get grass clippings almost exclusively in the summertime with just a very few pellets. We cut grass daily for them with the reel mower. It's a bit of work, but it's good for them. They hardly touch their pellets. ;)

ill have to stop in the co-op and see what their hay mix is...ust trying to avoid alfalfa, tends to be too high in protein as a main source.
Once i get things growing theyll be getting mostly garden grown foods (im hoping to sow the entire doe pen in clover LOL)

You'll need an extra pen for a grow out pen for the babies too...(yes, i'm an enabler)

We have hay for our goats that is an orchard grass/alfalfa/ clover mix at $5/square bale and the bunnies get anything that the goats waste from the feeder. I plan on giving mine fresh clover too but I didn't think of grass clippings...duh.

Did you paint them pink???

well, today is going to be a bit of a crazy day i think.
i need to get the main body of the hutches painted so itll be fuly cured before bunnies come home on thursday.

i also need to go get a bag of dog food...i didnt realize how low i was untill this morning when i actually saw the bottom of the feed bin...ive got about 1 cup left fter todays rations and thats not enough to feed everyone.
gonna make some calls to see if anyone closer than jackson carries my brand. *fingers crossed*
will also pick up a bale of hay and a bag of feed today so ive got them all set and ready too...
again got to check prices first with some phone calls.

puppies and dozer are doing well this morning, no vacination reactions. hich is excelent which means they are officially ready :D
got to take some new pics of them at some point today too so their people can see them now...

so yeah...think im going to make those calls and get the spending money part out of the way first...then get back here and get that painting done (which wil be more tedious than anything else because itll need at least 3 coats.
so yeah. fun times...busy busy.

things i need for the bunnies:
crocks for food.
water bottles
food
hay
bedding (the only problem with doing a solid floor, you either need to litterbox train or use a base substrate...but itll all be able to go in the garden so YAY)

oh boy, need to get moving!

lol, the hope is to have 4 hutches and a pasture for the rabbits.
2 hutches for bucks...
the pen as a doe colony which will probably house 4 does
and 2 hutches for grow out.

right now i want to focus on standard rex for meat/fur and pets so i think 4 does and 2 bucks should give me more than enough babies.

well this afternoon i worked my painting tuckus off and its officially painted and ready for the girls.
now i would like to "finnish" it off with ome trim painted white, but right now its extra wood. but it looking ok for an amature job lol.

and yes...its PINK!...
realy hot pink, like RASPBERRY pink, i LOVE the color and ive got enough left to paint plenty more stuff as i get round to building it
it might darken up some as it cures, i did 2 coats today and am hoping i dont need a 3rd...but we'll see.
also got the duck run painted.
and everythign all set up to go for the bunnies, shavings on the floor, a good couple handfulls of orchard gras x timmothy mix in the houses. just need to fill the bottles and put food in the bowls on thurs morning before i leave to go get them.

now its dinner time, made a london broil with cheesy potatoes. yum.
and later...puppy pictures :)
