right?! im like...but I told you that 15 mins ago...lol.
I swer those thigns are designed to just fly away if someone sneezes at them...but I figured 20 bungee cords to tposts and guide ropes at each itnerection (6 total) SHOUL have been enough...and it has been up until then lol.
admittedly the other one wasn't as secure because dad was supposed to be putting in the ground anchor kit...

water bottles frozen solid this morning, took me about an hour and a half to get them thawed and back up to the barn...were not getting much past 30 today so will go out an hour earlier than usual, collect bottles repeat so they've got fresh water for a little bit before bed too.
I think were supposed to go to tractor supply later anyway so ill look at the heat lamps
id be happy if I can just keep them from freezing up during the daytime...if I can keep them good all day id have no problem bringing the water in at night and taking them back up in the mornings...better 1 trip down and back than 6...

the good news is after tomorrow temps are suppose to head back into the 40ls and even 50s again...im so excited, its gonna feel like summer were at 28 right now YUCK.

im also on the tail of a couple of llama leads, wish us luck. I think a llama or 2 is going to be our best bet for predator protection since an LGD is realy not an option. (though I do have an email in to someone rehoming an experienced adult female CAS lgd too)

someones interested in taking little yellow parrotlet sunny a a mate for her boy that just lost his girlfriend...
trying to arrange for pickup on Friday afternoon.

AND we might have a lead on a female llama whos been guarding Nigerians, goat herd has been sold off and now they are left with her, alone, and no way to transport...
they are about an hour away so ive asked for more info, picture and adoption fee if there is one.
she may be perfect, an experienced guardian of dwarf goats, used to being the only llama, and while older should still have a good 5-10 years left...
I see myself being here for about 5 years, so...
if things work out we may go get her this weekend, shell get stalled next to the goats for a few days to settled in...
after that, assuming all goes well, shell live with the girls 24/7

another animal in the winter wasn't realy on the plan...but this could be perfect.

Pinkfox, tell me about parrotlets. I've kind of thought about getting one or two but don't know much about them. are they hard to care for, do they need anything special? thanks for info

very easy to care for, they are relitivly quiet for parrots (they are actually parrots despite their size) though dusk dawn and occasionally randomly they'll have their moments where they need to be heard (thankfully that noice is incredibly quiet compared to other parrots, its more of a chattering than much else (good for apartments or noise sensitive people) they can talk...but there not known for it and when they do they have tiny little voices that ound like little robots o it can be hard to hear...
they ned a relitivly large amount of space for their size and preferably longer than tall (they like lots of toys so longer cages have more hanging space) they are active and playfull so toys toys toys, I like 18 wide x 18 tallx 30 long flight cages but 16x16x24 works well too. any kind of toys are good but mine have always particularly liked ones they can swing from, rope swings fleece swings, haning bits, plastic chain, hung coconut shells like basket swings ect...
feed is tyopically a combination of seed (anthing good for a teil) and fresh, (cooked pasta and rice and both cooked and fresh veg and fruit) mine are mostly on seed and they get a little oatmeal in the morning and whatever veggies or grain sides form dinner they get a little of.
I free feed seed. obviously water aces at all time and I also always have millet and cuttle available to mine.

if your just looking for a pretty bird to watch get a bonded pair (same sex or otherwise) they are funy to watchinteract and chatter and play) but if you want pets, get a handfed baby (2 if you've got time to spend with them seperatly and together as they'll need a lot of you time to remain friendly fi they also have eachother...

otherwise care is pretty much the same as a budgie...very simple and easy going, avoid drafts ect.

plets are tiny amazons though, so you have to be prepared for a big attitude in that tiny body, they can be rather opinionate and while I haven't had issues with nippiness, they can be a little bitey if they want something...especially teen birds who are testing the boundries.
oh and clips on all the doors, they are smart and learn how to open them!

thanks...now mums "not sure" about an older llama she wants one we know is friendly...(this girl is not realy halter trained and at 14...) because shes worried if I cant do it, then she, dad or sis are going to need to and they need to be able to handle her...understandable...but...im ot sure when they would need to...
without mums support I dont have a chance cause dad doesn't want "anymore" and mum wa the one kinda making this whole thing work....so im doing more looking...
im not used to having to make descicions off the concerns and wishes of other people when IM the one doing the work...
naywho...

otherwise nothing much going on...its cold, I dont like the cold.

thanks pinky for the parrotlet info. i want to get some sort of birds for the house after Louis goes to kitty heaven (he's 20 years old now so who knows how long he'll last). I've looked at the parrotlets and have also thought about just little chirpy finches. don't know yet but then its not time to worry about it.
sorry the llama thing isn't looking so good. being an old broad (not saying you mum is, just know i am) i know i would be afraid of a llama and controlling it. things will work out the way it should and i hope its what you want.

Good luck, I hope that it works out. I'm sure the llama can be trained, the issue will just be spending the time doing it. If my dogs can learn to walk on leashes at 12 I'm sure a llama can learn to be handled at 14, LOL. It will just take time and patience and an understanding of their behavior. I don't think it would be too far off of horse training, honestly. They are all prey animals.

its that time of year where "stuff" is pretty common.

not much going on around here we had some snow over thanksgiving...
ive got 4 buns bred for new years kits (ready around valentines day) so fingers crossed)
I managed to sell an adult lop doe and one of the young lop boys...
hoping to sell 1 of the meat does and 1 of my angora does, and I think thatll put me back at a number im ok with for a little while.
ill probably try for another lop x rex liter out of my current adult lop doe then put her on the market...I need an unrelated rex x lop mix as a partner for buckwheat...im liking the mix as a pet and meat beed, this irst gen looks like smaller French lops...so if I can get that with rex fur id be quite happy

I had to do emergency repair of the piggy pen this morning, yesterday we got home and thye were out and landscaping the yard...I didn't put electric infront of the gate (for ease) and with the soft ground form this last thaw out they just managed to get themselves free...
so hopefully that problems solved.

Ive got so much I need to get done but todays motivation is seriously lacking.

I still need to move the fridge up at the barn into the tack room, which means removing the doors....I think I can do that myself...
I want to rearrange my room...I have the paint so I think im going to pick a wall to work on, move everything off that wall, paint it and then put everything back, and then move to the next wall ect...
I also think Ive figured out the craft space, rather than the cost of cabinates instead im tinking of working with some kind of counter top and table legs and pretty fabric and just put adjustable shelving underneath. I can then move thigns as needed and arrange things and such.

And, I like your idea for a craft space. It gives you more flexibility.
