Lol
maybe laying up food for winter...

hope it will stay clear now.

knowing Murphy's Laws and other such and knowing my luck it will wait for the nastiest storm you can get and then plug it up with mud and ice and such so that you'll be out there dreaming of beaver burgers and dynomight.
Lol one of my seasonal neighbors suggested dynamite the other day.

Hope so lol. I'm going to check the next pond up the river just to see if he relocated.

i can't tell from your pictures the layout of that area/culvert, but there should be a way to make it so that the beaver can build a dam to their hearts content and still have drainage through that culvert. :) good luck. :)

I have a peice of chainlink fence across it now. I think the pvc pipe idea from the video will work. The culvert itself needs to be replaced. I am on the road committee and have suggested to the committee that when we replace it it should be longer so it reaches out past the road on both sides. And we add the pvc pipes. Hopefully it makes it to the list of work for next summer but like everything it will depend on available funds. Our road is not maintained by government it is maintained by the cabin/home owners. Theres roughly 70 properties on our road and only 2 of us live here year round. We ask each property to pay $100 towards the road each year most do but not everyone. Most of the money is used each year on grading and crushed stone. Some of the other roads in our area also charge winter fees as will for snow clearing but we dont. I plow our road at my own expense I dont charge the committee but tell them donations of gas are welcome. I live here so I'm plowing the road anyway. Dealing with blocked culverts is preventative maintenance to prevent washouts and to keep my access. There is around 10 culverts and 1 bridge on our road which is 5 miles long. I think the pvc idea would work for most of the culverts.

I'm hoping that he moved on to the next pond up because if he did he will leave that culvert alone as that pond has a river flowing out and whenever there are beavers there they dam the river and leave the culvert alone and damming the river wont affect the road.

Its another miserable day. Woke up to find everything is white. But it wont last long we have strong northerly winds and it just turned to rain. Supposed to be like this for a few days so I'm going to have to switch my mindset from outside work to inside. I still have to put up some giprock and may start making cupboard doors for the kitchen. I still need to make cupboards and counters for the pantry.
I just got a medium sized baby barn that I'm going to use an a sheep barn. Hopefully my brother will be up with his excavator next week so we can get it moved into place. It currently has a wooden floor but I'm going to remove the floor and pour cement once it placed where we want it.
Missy our doe Nigerian dwarf has a date scheduled for this afternoon if all goes well we will have kids in April.

What a miserable day. Freezing rain all day it's like a skating rink outside. Time to dig out the ice cleats.
Missy's date was canceled because of the weather so we will try again next month.
Still no sign of the beaver so he must have moved on. The trapper said he will leave the traps out for a few more days then he will take them out.

Hope the beaver moved on. How long does winter last? We don't get snow every year, when we do, it only lasts around 3 days.

Our coldest month is usually February, if we get snow, that’s usually when we get it. March warms up a lot, then April, by May it’s getting hot!
