BBH, what do you use for cooking utensils? Our stove has a griddle for our center burner but you have to use the plastic utensils on it so you don't scratch the junk off it.
Well Lupin, I wouldn't use it anymore...but that is just me. ;)

Free also inspired me to store water in the fridge in vodka bottles. Fun to serve guests this way, eh free??
Well it kind was a selling feature with the stove. It's great for pancakes and it's the only thing I can get potato rosti's to cook on these days for some reason.

lol we don't even have any stove top skillets or pans because my dad killed all of ours cooking salmon one year (on high heat with no oil or pam LOL).

I like to use the glass pyrex for food storage. I use stainless steel water bottles like Klean Kanteen and others. They have wide mouths and are easy to wash.

Lupin, sometimes you can only do so much. Keep the stove but nix some other stuff.

At least you are more aware.
I think so, we don't have a very large fridge so we don't store much in containers..just big things like cookie dough, and stuff mostly in stainless steel bowls (that have plastic lids -_- ) and some pyrex (with plastic lids -_- ). We can't get around storing our chickens either lol which are packed in plastic.

Geez, this whole thing is kinda complicated.

lol

BB, you can get a single swing-top bottle at a wine and beer-making supply store for about $4....I got a beautiful cobalt blue one that I just love to use.

I also got a bunch of quart-size ones that I use in the fridge for stuff like my chai tea concentrate and to transport larger quantities of liquid if I am traveling nearby, like if we go to the Cape and I want to bring goat's milk. They are completely leak-proof. I got them at a discount store that sells all kinds of unfamiliar food items from other countries, and they had lemon and grapefruit soda in them. I dumped the soda, because we don't drink it and the bottles were only $2.99 each.....the empty bottles will cost $6-7 or more each! I have four and they are almost always in the fridge with something in them. Love 'em.

Tell me about it. You buy quality food from the market and 9/10's of the time it is wrapped in plastic. Plastic is EVERYWHERE!!!!! That is why the title to my plastic thread is "getting plastic out of my kitchen is hard."

Anyway, I have become hyper-aware of plastic near my food. I can't get away from it 100% unless I become 100% self sufficient. That isn't going to happen soon, so I just deal with it. It is all I can do.

The good thing about you lupin, is that you are still young...

Oh, BBH, Florida is warm and lovely! Tank tops and sandals!!!! Snow and ice back home... :D
See free, southern states are fun to visit during the winter. The issue with Florida and say, TX, is the overbearing 100+ degree heat, 100% humidity, giant-roach :sick filled summers....that last for 10 months out of the year!!!!
