I really hope this works out!
I was just gonna say that too! Tell him to "look spry" on the interview so they don't worry about the back issue.Dawn419 said:I really hope this works out!

We got a little more information about the job last night from our friend that referred him.
He already knows that E had back surgery, so he asked our friend R what limitations does E have. She said she wasn't really sure, so that's why he wants E to come in and talk to him. He wants to know how E manages to do things around here, and what his limits are, basically does E think he can do the work, I guess. Wants to "feel him out" so to speak to see if he's worth taking a chance on.
We don't know what the rate of pay is yet, and E said that's kind of important because he doesn't want to drive the 22 miles one way just to make the gas money to get there
But Ernie has a load of questions for the guy, and is even thinking of asking him if he has an opening for a milker instead - because E said that's what HIS preference would be on a dairy farm - but he's going by past experience on the previous farm where the feed guy got all the blame if milk production was down (you mixed the feed wrong, didn't feed on time, etc. etc.).
I don't know how it will be at this dairy, but at the previous dairy the feed guy was the second highest paid employee. Milk Techs (E's previous job on a dairy) made $10/hour. The feed guy at the other dairy made $22/hour.
Not sure what the herdsman was paid.
We also found out that E would be paid weekly - at least for the first 6 months, anyway, because Farmer B is trying to switch over to paying every 2 weeks.
He was told to be at the farm Monday morning sometime between 6 am and 9 am.
