All summer long we pick up old dry branches (kindling) from our forest and stored them in the wood shed. We used them all winter last year and for the one week that we needed the wood stove this year.elijahboy said:and thank you so much for the info atleast i can let the thought out of my head
its just that charleston is getting 6" of snow since 89 and i dont feel prepared and since im starting fresh in june i wanted to make things different guess i will just have to wait till i have my house in the woods
one more question
when you have a wood stove does the wood you burn in the have to be a certain size or can you pick up fallen branches and stick throughout the year. Havinf 10 acres there has to be stick and fallen branches all the time

Elijah, Regarding the size of the wood that you burn in your stove (when you get one) as long as the wood will fit into your stove allowing you to close the door securely, it should be okay. However, make sure the wood is seasoned or it won't burn well and I think will leave more soot build up that could later cause a fire in your chimney.
