I LOVE salt, I thought it was because I was raised by the ocean. Need the salt shaker? It is by me. I could salt everything, ever since I can remember. Super low blood pressure to boot.

*off to research*
Thanks BB, feel free to chime in at will.
There is a thread on AF, and it has links to the intensive reading materials on www.mothering.com as well.
Well worth the time.

Do continue eating good amounts of real sea slat, that has not been refined at all.
Your adrenals are needing it, and there is no reason to limit it.
Start your morning with a glass of water with sea salt added to it.
That will give you the boost needed.
And keep all potassium rich food intake real low.
What is AF?

ok quick question... you say to use unrefined salt like sea salt... but isn't AF caused from lack of iodine in the diet... shouldn't you eat iodized salt to help the AF?

Don't dread menopause! I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, was on hormone replacement for 1 year, now I'm not taking anything and I feel great! Once I quit the hormone therapy, the hot flashes and night sweats were an issue for a while, but they have gradually reduced and are infrequent now. The hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did (and was years overdue).

Sorry you are suffering with PMS so bad . I can certainly sympathize!

Lack of Iodine does not cause adrenal fatigue.
And iodized salt has very little iodine in it, and it is also a highly refined salt that contains corn and aluminum and zero minerals.

Iodine deficiencies are related to thyroid health, which is related to adrenal health, if that helps at all

Also, real sea salt has iodine in it!

Maca root HAS helped a little, but I haven't been on it that long so it may help more as time goes on. Unfortunately clean diet has NOT helped my hormonal derangement.

I will report back after my next cycle and let you know if the maca continues to improve things. One measurable improvement was the amount of pain killers I had to take on the first day (usually the most horrible day of a period). Instead of about 16 advil, I was able to get by with 8 over the course of 24 hours.
