Interesting! It sounds like it really would benefit the state outside of Chicago if they can push this through.

Wisconsin should be separated too. Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan should join - Milwaukee and Madison are way more liberal than most of the rest of the state. They recently took the UW-extentions away from the county ag departments where they worked with farmers and rural homeowners and set it up under the leadership of the UW-Madison. I feel UW Madison Ag program is highly influenced by Industrial Ag. Go big or go away has seemed to be their area of study.

Oregon is the same way. The east side of the state gets no say in laws.

Like the one that says cougars can't be killed even if they are threatening people in town. But oh they make an exception if it's Portland or Eugene and the cougar is just eating pets not stalking people.

I think the city governement of Heppner just looked the other way and let that cougar disappear a few years ago.

There are 2 Maines also. The wealthy area south of our state's capitol: Augusta. And the northern part of the state. Southern area is more populated, thus has much more political pull, leaving the "northern rural areas out of the loop."

I believe that this is one of the problems with our nation - all the power is in the big cities and that is what the laws are formed for. We need to let the local governments have the power to govern their own areas. Laws for urban areas don't necessarily make much sense for rural areas and vice versa.

On the other hand, every vote counts. Including those that you don't agree with.

Sure would be nice if this was ONE place I could come to that was not discussing politics. Just sayin'....
