I was given a number of purple and peanut seed potato's this winter, and this morning I pulled them out of storage.
I guess there was some light leakage, cause they are badly sprouted.
Since the very earliest I have planted taters up here is the 3rd week of May, I have a problem.
In order to salvage them, I am going to get out all my tomato pots and other buckets and stuff them with a mixture of old hay, leaves and composted dirt. Add the taters and wait and see!
I'll transplant them all after Memorial Day.
DH is on the way to the feed store to buy a variety of seed potato's right now. I have no idea what varieties they have. Hoping for Yukon Gold's
ETA: I spread out 1 and a half round bales of old hay for our tater patch this year. Still have 2 full bales for mulching throughout the summer!
