I have mailed cookies - to my husband when he was in the military. And my mother mails me cookies every year about this time. The main thing with cookies is packaging so they don't fall apart if they're brittle.
I think i would be concerned with the pound cake. During the winter months, it would probably be o.k. And it depends on where they and you live. In my neck of the woods, something like that can mold very quickly because of our humidity levels.
But i would say if you're doing this now, in the winter months, and you're careful to wrap them really well, you should be fine. Use the priority boxes provided by the p.o. for priority shipping.
