Good to know, considering I, have a glass top stove as well. I, will be canning more quarts right now but will be canning pints down the road.

I have been giving serious thought of purchasing a burner for outdoor use but unsure if it will maintain heat/pressure that way if it blows up my kitchen will be safe.
I am thinking about getting an outside burner as well, and would be interested in your experiences if you get one. Most of those I have researched claim to get water up to a boil in so and so much time, but I will want one that can also be lowered to, and hold at, a simmer. As that doesn't seem to be a common need it isn't mentioned in the reviews. My gas grill has an extra burner - good idea for many things, but it won't go low enough for a simmer. And a full canner would be too heavy for it.

On my lunch hour I went to check out some pressure canner's but only found one style/make at the store I was at.......... the pressure canner I looked at had a warning against using it out doors had a picture that looked like a pressure canner sitting on a propane burner stating warning not to be used outdoors.

I've heard that a lot of them don't recommend it. I think it has to do with the btu of the gas burner, so check the manual to find out what it can and can't handle in the way of btu :)
