That looks like it is a cement block house, not stone.

They used to build block houses on the beach. Hurricane would come through, complete with storm surge, tornadoes, and flooding. All the beautiful multi-million dollar stick houses would be firewood, and those old block houses would still be there. Reasonably cool in summer but yes, hard to heat in winter. Still, a windy cold beach tends to be harder to heat than inland, to be fair.

If I can't have a log cabin mansion (LOL) or a stone house built into a hillside I'd take poured concrete or block as a next choice. :) Then again, I grew up with lots of tornadoes.

I agree, we have loads of tornadoes around here and if not tornadoes than super strong wind gusts. They seem to shake my stick built house pretty hard.

I need to get pics of the front, and of the overgrown flower beds that I'd like to plant herbs in. There is enough ground to have a good sized garden, chicken coop, & pig pen.

Looks nice and sturdy to me. If I was buying it I would rip off that ugly back porch and make a nicer one and save up for good windows :D

That was one of my first "must do" things. That and a new front porch since I'm scared to walk on the current one :/

Cinderblock, stone, concrete, whatever it is, the price is right and the outside is wonderful! I'm in the WSHTF mindset at the moment, and the construction materials are a bonus. I'll get more pics later today....

to the right of this patio set is a small flower garden, surrounded by a rock border, complete with birdbath....all swallowed by weeds:

As you can see there is plenty of room to play around with. I just want to get IN!! The front door requires a skeleton key, can you believe it?
