My Grandma Nettie used to use an old treadle machine when we went to the lake. The machine is still there, but I have no idea if it works. Several years before she died my mother :)he ) painted the WHOLE machine cabinet and all with silver paint!!! :rant :somad

I also have another treadle here at my house. I recently bought a new belt for mine at Lehmans on line store.

I am SO SO glad for you about the water! It will make your lives SO much easier.

And great deals at the auction. I really want a treadle sewing machine, I learned to sew on one. Mom used to make most of our clothes with hers. and doll clothes as well

Wow! Those were some great finds, QA! I learned to sew on my mom's Singer treadle machine. My sister has it now and it is still working.

I have an old, treadle machine. It belonged to my grandmother. Only problem being, I don't have room to set it up, nor do I really know how to sew. If I have the time this winter, I plan on learning though. It's almost impossible to find clothes that I both like and that fit!

As for the water, as of right now, I'm jealous. Our pump stop working Monday morning. My hubby is working a lot of overtime right now, so he couldn't even look at it until late. We were hoping it just lost the prime. Nope, no go. So, we went to bed Monday night w/no water. He couldn't get a shower Tuesday morning, and refused to use my camp shower. (http://evergreen-outdoors.net/outback/shower.htm) I went to work, then to a hay auction, then heated up some water and got a nice, warm shower. I had 2 doctors appointments, and they kind of prefer for me NOT to show up smelling like a barn.

Tuesday night, my hubby got a new pump. But, w/working all the overtime, it was around 8:00 b4 we could even begin to start trying to take the old one out, and put the new one in. When we went to bed at 2:00 Wednesday morning, we had water! I got home from work Wednesday afternoon to find the pump running and no water. :he Apparently, it had a problem. So, our son is taking the pump out today, taking it back, getting a new one, and w/the help of a friend who's a union plumber, putting in a new pump. And, if that doesn't work. I have to go to the laundry mat and wash clothes!

I am so over doing laundry :barnie

Yesterday I washed a load of whites.

This morning, thought I'd see what they boys had left that needed washed - there wasn't ONE THING in their closet! ALL of their clothes were thrown around their room. I didn't know what was clean or dirty.

:he

I'm beginning to think I'll never get caught up on laundry - but at least I can wash it all at home!

Yesterday we picked up a shower curtain - so now we can get showers instead of only baths! :weee

We're planning our frolic for November 6, starting at 8 am and our house warming is going to be on November 20 from 2-4 pm. :ya

You do have an electric washer don't you? I wondered that since it has been so long since you could do laundry at home ... at least without hauling water.

I have experienced the room paved with clothes before. When my girls were young they shared a tiny (hmm 12 X 24! and they complained about how small their room was) bedroom in the second story of our house. D1 was the slob and D2 was the neat freak. They ran a tape line down the middle of the room!! On on side immaculate - on the other that clothing pavement that I was talking about. Here is hope. Both keep a clean house today! :gig
