Those are nice!! How much did it cost to make that box?
That is awesome that you can get compost from a neighbor!
Just the box was roughly $50, and that is including buying the screws we put it together with. We used wood screws because we decided if we screwed the wood together, we could easily take them out if we decided to move it later. So it's a moveable raised bed :D

Emmy, my sorta broody silkie, hasn't decided yet if she wants to be broody or not. She's still laying an egg each morning, so I don't think she finished her laying cycle yet. Each morning she sets on her neat nest she has made, lays an egg, and sets it for six hours. After that six hours, she's done setting that egg LOL and will run around until the next morning.

Is the lumber treated at all?

I hear painting it with boiled linseed oil will help preserve it and not be toxic in anyway.

Well, the 4x4's are treated, but I chose to stain the sides.

Had a long day, and got the surprising news today that I was named in my Grandpa's will. He passed last April, and they are just settling his estate. Not sure what I was left, but we have our suspicions.

We have to go back up mid-April for more tests on DH's back before they decide on surgery or not. Yay

Had a bit of a long day today.

Had paperwork to fill out for the ins. co. regarding our van. They said if we mailed it in, then they would mail us the check for the van. Well, they said it would be Friday before we got the check. They said we could drive it in and have the check today, so we chose that option.

This resulted in a 2 hour drive. Normally I would have waited until Friday, but we have to turn the rental in on Friday, so we wanted to be able to get our vehicles before Friday (getting them on Wednesday). So we drove the 2 hours there and then another 2 hours back. Unfortunately as it would work out, we couldn't pick up either vehicle today, so we agreed on times to pick up both on Wednesday.

Interestingly enough, we had to pass the Longaberger basket company....and their building is shaped like a giant basket! So of course the kids are just in awe, so on the way home DH stops and buys a disposable camera (I didn't have my digital with us) so we could get pics of the Longaberger building. The kids stood in front of the building and screamed "cheese" as I took their pics. They were quite happy, and I have to say, I think it was the highlight of their day.

We got home and I had animals to take care of. Got to collecting eggs, and my girls gave me over 2 dozen eggs today!!!!!!!! I was so excited!! Four of those were duck eggs! and I only have FOUR duck hens!!!!!!! all of my ducks are laying!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!!!!

The Geese now have 14 eggs in their nest. I wish they'd just get to setting and hatch them already.

The "say cheese" reminds me of work. One of our students is mute ... but he signs ASL. Last week they came to take our pictures. The photographer would say, "Say cheese!" and the kid would sign "cheese" - which takes both hands - then the photographer would fuss at him for moving, reposition him and do it all again.

I think it looped about three or four times before someone noticed and came to help. We were all on the floor laughing!

The Longaberger building is something, isn't it?! :D
Yes it is.

Had a nice day today. Had a day out kid free with a couple of friends. We went to Meyers Hatchery, had a quiet lunch together, and came home.

Ohhh, a quiet lunch with friends, whats that? Post some pics of the big basket building I would love to see it. I enjoy long drives with the kids, sometimes. Gives us a chance to talk with no distractions. :D
