I use Natural Family Planning.
I think if I used natural family planning I would have about 16 kids right now. As it was the 2 I have were conceived while we were using birth control.

I read this right before I went to sleep and had some rather interesting dreams LOL.

So, I am thinking about this diaphragm thingie. But how do you get it out? I, uh, have short fingers apparently because I can't use tampons without applicators.

I used one for quite a few years. So easy. Its spring loaded and easier to get out than in. Specially with all the gook you put in it. But for getting it out, you use a finger to grab the edge and pull gently forward and out. Couple of practices and you'll be all set.

If you're going with a diaphragm, be sure to have it fitted by an experienced ob/gyn (not your general family doc). A poor fit does not protect sufficiently.

I personaly used the Depo shot for ten years and never had a problem with that. Infact my periods stoped all together and I didn't have one for years.... which was awsome!

But the question I believe was natural remedies for BC. I know that the seeds from Queen Annes Lace has such properties but theres the problem of harvesting enough and how much to take.....and I don't know about ya'll but I would want something a little more reliable.

My hubby and I already agreed that he was getting snipped. If I could go though carrying for 9 months, birth, and a year of breast feeding with each of our kids (and I'm carrying #3 right now) then the LEAST he could do was get an outpatient ,be in and out in an hour, and be sore for a week.Honestly I think men can be such babies. If your hubby says he's too scared ask him this..."Wich is more scary... a little bit of pain, for a little bit....or no pleasure EVER again?";)

THe question I have is how healthy is it to stop having a period, to take hormones to stop it?

I just haven't ever thought that was a good idea, messing with mother nature, no matter how convienient it might be. I prefer to let my body run natural!

:gig My last baby was born at home (planned that way) and hubby had to fan me to keep me cool (we heated the room for the baby), wipe my brow and watch me in pain. He had to hold his daughters head up while I took a short break from all that pushing, and he cleaned her up, etc after all was done.

he's eager to get snipped, being scared isn't even on his radar! :gig

The other problem with Queen Anne's Lace is that is has been used for abortions, so I wouldn't recommend such a thing because you never know how it would work with a body or what accidents could happen when you use it. Yikes!

I've been on the Depo shot for years....it has decreased my labido and caused me to gain weight (50 lbs in 10 years). I decided not to 'renew' this month, and told DH that the train won't be getting anywhere near the station! :gig I'm not a fan of condoms, and when I was very young the sponge didn't do a good job either :( DH is not hip on the idea of getting snipped, so I told him to weigh his options.... get snipped and we're all happy, or no snipping and he handles his own business!! :tongue He's still in thought :idunno

I don't know if I'll get my cycle back, but I'm looking into making my own panty liners just in case. I'll be watching this to see if there are any other ideas..... :caf

Depo is very hard on the body, and there are plenty of other methods. I had the snip & sizzle years ago, but also considered the IUD.
BTW- Cloth pads are great. I hated the normal kind but was tired of throwing money away. Made mine out of a heavy shirt for the outside with some terry sewn inside.
