Thanks! I can't believe I spent almost $4 for a bottle.

Any thoughts on this site?

Oh, good grief, look at the price! I will mail you some since I doubt we could meet up during kidding season here on Blue Viola Farm and with Little League season and new goat season for you!

But on the other hand, those strainers look nice..... I wonder how fine the mesh is.
You forgot gardening and Cub Scouts and work and hovercraft season........
I do have to get the "puppy" up to visit his breeder. I want to have him neutered soon but agreed to let her look at him first to see if she wants to breed him. She is in East Granby. I might end up in your neck of the woods soon. ish

Let me know and I will have a live, non-dehydrated scoby for you. Depending on where your breeder is, we are 10-20 minutes from E Granby.

I use a stainless steel mesh tea strainer to strain the stringy goobies out. A fine mesh coffee filter, like the one I filter my milk with, would work great, too. I don't like regular coffee filters because they are designed to slow the coffee down and I am impatient!

You will need: A gallon glass jar or similar size bowl. A jar takes up less space in the cabinet or closet that you keep it in. You can get a "cracker jar" at WalMart for $5-6 if you don't have a scrounged one. I prefer the jars that pickles and such come in, but they can be hard to find.

Quart bottles to strain it into and keep it in the fridge, with tight-fitting lids.

Strainer, see above.

Tea bags, white sugar.

A stainless steel stock pot that holds at least a gallon of water.

Already have the cracker jar from Walmart and the mesh coffee filter. Don't know if DH's school cafeteria has large glass containers but I can have him ask. I have lots of quart jars too.
White sugar, huh? We've been using turbinado lately. No biggie, easy enough to find.
All doable!
