A friend who is wise with herbs told me to drink several cups a day of tea made with goldenseal and uva ursi. I don't often get UTI's, but I had good results with that last time.

I had a Dr tell me that you have to raise the PH of your system. ACV in water works, cranberry juice or concentrate, vitamin C and plenty of water.

Good luck
Exactly! You want to "acidify your urine" this makes it an inhospitable environment for the bacteria.

As for preventing UTI's the best advice for women is to urinate after sex.:hide
A lot of UTI are r/t intimate contact.
The most common bacteria that causes UTI's in women is e-coli. Ladies don't hesitate to tell your partner to avoid going near the "exit" then the "entrance". (I don't know how much more delicate I can say it!)

If you have trouble with them on a regular basis, take Vitamin C daily. I used to have trouble until a doc told me to use it. I took it for several years w/o any recurrence. I stopped taking it a couple of years ago, but would start again if needed.

Took a few doses of alka seltzer to ease things til I can get to the pharmacy today. Going to get some cranberry tablets and make them part of a weekly regimen.

Thank you to everyone who helped....yet another reason why I love this forum!!!

I haven't had a UTI in YEARS, so it was a surprise. It seems to have come about since I've started a heavy workout ......walking hard for an hour then an intense workout after. Even though I shower immediately after, I think it was a bit too much, haha.

Anyway, thank you again everyone for your help!!

Ok, so I figured out the hard way why I had the UTI......a neglected cavity decided to absess and the infection spread to "down there". I got on some Penecillan and have a dental appointment today. Hoping they can just fill it and not pull the tooth, since its on the top and toward the front. Don't need any gaps in my smile! So, I'm sure once they fill it they'll put me on more meds to clear up the infection, which, by the way has the whole side of my face swollen. Dangerous I know, but on Easter weekend nobody, not even the emergency dental offices, was open. I took what meds I had on hand and am looking forward to getting this taken care of.

Just an FYI, you can go to an emergency room for treatment if all else fails. They would have given you something for the infection.
