Rich Folk, Poor Folk

Hey, guess what? There are PLENTY of people in this world that would look at any of us and think we were outrageously wealthy simply because we have running water! (Sorry, Quail, I won't leave you out....) or simply because we own property! (Whew, I think I covered my bases... :P )

I've known wealthy people who are not materialistic and I've know people who had nothing who are very materialistic. It is all about contentment, as said, and perspective.

I will readily admit that if a chunk of money fell out of the sky and into my lap, I'd improve my living situation. It would still be ss, though. More so!!! Just a little more land with orchard trees and enough grass for.....cows! :D

Why can't we read it and appreciate it for what it is? A story of a boy who realized that the stereotypes just aren't always true. Its not a story of "I'm rich and you're poor", or a story bashing people's financial status. It just says "Hey, just because I'm not like you, doesn't mean I'm not just as happy."

Why must we fight...ahem...."discuss" this issue with such malice in our tone?
:he

I must be tired...I'm not reading malice...just opinions...and I didn't post it for opinions...I posted it so that all of you with SS lifestyles know how very lucky you are!

anytime something is discussed from another view it might seem like a "tone" in the post of course. I can see that happening definitely.

Many of our forum posters on this site have that life (except the servants serving them probably :P) that was listed in that little story. Many of our people live in town on 1/2 acre of land, with a pool and don't think they are poor of happiness, freedom or self reliance to some degree.

no biggie.
