Yeah, you don't want to get him that BB gun. He'll shoot his eye out. :hide
Don't hide. He's seen the movie and accused me of having the same thought. But this is the kid who will promise he's just going to slide down the hill a few times before he starts his homework and I find him in the goat pen teaching Daisy to head butt him. Can you say impulsive???

Haven't had a chance to call the farm yet. Forgot that one of his classmates' mothers teaches riding at their farm a few towns away. Another option to look into.

Also, he's not too young to take hunter-certification classes. You don't have to get him the license (I passed, but never actually got my license) but it teaches the basics of gunmanship. Plus the range should have a kids course where they provide him with a gun once a week and teach gim basics. We had ladies night once a week, you got in free if you had the right equipment. Kids courses should be cheap!

That way when he looses interest after a month you haven't really dunked responsibility into it. Just like the horse.

Um....I wasn't too much older than him when my mom caught me tying our Buttercup to the toboggan and leading her away from the barn, turning her and the sled around, letting her go and jumping onto the speeding sled as it whizzed by me.

I turned out kinda ok....so there is hope! :p

Hahaha Free!

I used to ride the goaties, shh, I know its bad now! Oh my, worse then the ponies, they would ram us into the fences and we would giggle and get on for more. The ponies would just run and buck until you fell off, not as fun.

 I think that was in Farmer Boy, which I read with him two summers ago. Hmmmm, between that and actually having met Free...... I think I've doomed him. :gig
Made one call today to the farm owned by his classmate's family. I'll call the other tomorrow after church. I saw her out giving a lesson this morning.
And honestly I'm more afraid of him shooting a goat's eye out than his own. "I didn't mean to!!"
