You live in a log home in the forest! That would be a dream come true for me. Sounds like you are a very busy person. I make soap too, and I gave it as gifts for Christmas. I had a couple people tell me that I should start selling it. Are there a lot of rules that you have to follow when you sell homemade products, like labeling requirements or anything?

This would be my dream home too...if there were no mortgage :)
I love it here even though we measure snow in feet.

As far as selling soap...there are no labeling requirements as long as you don't claim that it does anything other than clean.

Liability insurance and sales tax id are requirements for most shows in NY anyway.

check out my new site www.rockytoggsoapco.com (my sister created for me).

Thank you all for the welcomes:)

You have some wonderful looking soaps; the chocolate donut ones almost look good enough to eat!

:frow Rocky!!!

I sell my soaps too. Same thing here, no major restrictions as long as you don't make any medical claims.

I look forward to reading about your journey! And, of course, looking at pictures!

So I'm in the process of planning my garden. I discovered the Mother Earth News interactive garden planner and I'm super excited. I've always loved gardening. I became a master gardener 12 yrs ago, but have not stayed involved with the volunteering part :(

I'm focusing on heirloom and organic seeds this yr. I strayed from my organic practices for a few yrs, but it's time to get serious.

Last yr I canned and froze a ton of produce. This yr my goal is to build a root cellar to store fresh veggies as well as to age cheese :)
My house is on a hillside...how perfect.

Now, if only there were 3 feet less snow on the ground :/

:frow I'll also be following this journal. Between the goats, farming, the log cabin, and being able to juggle that kind of schedule- you've got my attention. What part of the country are you?

Around here the snow FINALLY melted! We're several hours southeast of you, but I'm still amazed that the snow is gone (for now anyway!)
