So the little angel had her first camping trip this past weekend and she loved it. Although thay might of had something to do with her sleeping with mom and dad.
Well I figured today was as good as any to start line drying the clothes. (I need to wash the clothes from camping.) Although Ron doesn't like how his clothes feel when they are not tumble dried. If I have to throw the clothes in the dryer for a few minutes after I will.
Same at our house! Don't like the crunch. But you can't beat the fresh, sunshine smell that they get being hung outside. Fond memories of running through the damp sheets hanging on the line on a hot summer day. We learned how to iron by ironing the line dried clothes. That takes out the crunch also. I can still remember ironing my dads skivvies, lol.
We've just gotten used to it over the years. I've been line-drying in the summer for at least 30 years; then I experimented with hanging clothes in the laundry room one winter. We have a long, narrow laundry room, and putting up a couple of lines all the way across allows us to hang at least one load of wash. The air flow (after installing a small fan at one end toward the door) gets stuff dry in about 20 hours. So I got rid of the dryer, and we line dry all year now.
I'm the weird one - I like the crunchy towels, lol. I think they absorb so much better and they soften up when they get damp anyway... and sheets! Cannot replace the feeling of sliding between line dried sheets. Sigh....
I got mine from Lehman's, but they were pricey. I keep hoping I'll find some more in a thrift store or antique store. I suppose if someone was good with metal you could make some using heavy wire or something
