So i got some new additions to my garden. I planted some strawberry plants yesterday. I got 5 plants for a dollar so if they don't make it through the winter I'm not going to be too crushed.
Well my boyfriend has finally come to the conclusion that we are going to be in this house for at least a year after our little girl is born. So we where throwing around the idea of tilling up the area on the other side of the yard for a garden. Well he happened to run into our land lords at the restaurant that he works at and mentioned it to them. There response was if we are willing to fix up the back yard we can do whatever we want to it.
So next year we are going to be adding about 300 square feet to our garden. the only problem is that this new garden spot is under a big cotton wood tree and is shaded for a good part of the day.
Leaf and root crops will likely do well. I've heard that tomatoes taste better when they're in part shade. I bet it will work out great. How exciting to have a larger garden and a cooperative landlord!
So I was putting our little girls cloths that we got away (that we have gotten so far) and I noticed something that is a little head scratching. Why do they put pockets on baby clothing, its not like they are going to be putting anything in them.
My sister would shove a kleenex in the pocket of her daughters outfits - she could barely get one in there, but there were many times that she yanked it out of there to grab a liquid-burp before handing off the baby.
