My bf wants a router kit. I am thinking about buying him one for Father's Day, but have no clue where to start--as far as what brand is the best? How much should I figure on spending? Can I get one in Walmart or do I need to go to Home Depot? Is there special attachments that is a must to buy?

I am so clueless with this..lol Any help would be appreciated.

Craftsman

That Craftsman is just hard to beat. Not only do they seem to always use very good materials, their quality control appears to be pretty strict. I've never had to take back a Craftsman tool.

Before purchasing any tool, I read a lot of product reviews. With regard to Crafstman, the people who responded to this thread are right. Many people seem satisfied with Crafstman. So, why not go in for one? You can easily visit their official website and check out the prices. I am sure your bf will love it.

Yup, I'd go with a Craftsman. Sears tools overall are hard to beat. I have some hand tools I've had for years and they are still just as good as new. If you take even reasonable care of your tools, the Craftsman will last for a good long while.

I totally agree. I have my Dad's old drill that I bought him when I was a youngster about 1972. It still works as well as it did when he got it for Christmas that year. I love Sears tools. It's one thing they do pretty well.:D

I'd also vote for Craftsman. And in my experience buying other appliances at Wal*Mart, I'd have to say that it can be hit or miss there.

Good luck with the router purchase.

I got a Bosch 1617EVSPK last year and so far it has been a great tool.

While looking at the routers, be sure to get one of those portable tables too.

They are really handy and make working in places other than his garage or back yard, much easier.

Excellent suggestion Sage, one of those tables solves so many unanticipated problems and it allows you to get a familiar feel with the working area. Good call.
