I have a Bosch Router and was so impressed with the quality, fit, finish, power and ease of use that I bought a new hand drill made by them too. It is also one of the finest tools I have ever used. I would not hesitate to purchase any of the Bosch tools based on the two I now own. Well, actually three, I forgot about the compound miter saw I bought several years ago.

I have been using tools since my first job while still in high school 35 years ago. I have worn out many Craftsman tools and some better ones. I don't think I will ever wear out these Bosch tools.

But, I don't think I will ever buy another Craftsman tool. Their quality has steadily declined over the years while the German and Swiss branded tools have improved. Craftsman mechanic tools have a good guarantee, but the power tools are only for a year and they always seem to wear out a few weeks after that.

If you only use the tool around the home once or twice a year then a lower quality tool may be good enough. But if you work with and depend on your tools every day then get the Bosch.

I suggest the Porter Cable 890 series. A great router with variable speed and 1/4in and 1/2in. collets.

Craftsman made some good power tools back in the '70's, but their quality has deteriorated to what I call, "Throw Away" tools. Their hand tools are still good.
