I love sassafras tea also! When I was a kid my grandpa would make tea by the gallons and keep in our fridge,..sweetened with honey. It was so good on a hot day. Here our sassafras trees are huge! Matter of fact there is one laying down on the ground that was uprooted a few years back on our property. DH is going to cut it up for firewood sometime. Anytime you dig a hole around here,..thats the first thing you smell,..sassafras! It is all over the place. Has anyone ever made jelly from it?? They say it is very good. Also when I used to go out in the woods with my grandpa and I would get thirsty,.he would break a twig off of a sassafras tree and tell me to chew on it,...he said it was supposed to quinch your thirst, or tie you over so to speak. It was very refreshing!

Going off topic here but if you don't need the sassafras for firewood don't bother with it. It is one of the worst. It burns fast and puts out little heat.

No,.. I don't burn wood in my house,..it is for DH's garage. I know it isn't worth much,.but it burns and it is better than letting it rot don't you think? :duc

After burning sassafras last year and finishing it off this year I would be inclined to let it rot. But I don't have a shortage of wood either.

Neither do we. Acres and acres of wood. ;)
