Reminds me of a verse in Isaiah, and a little child shall lead them.

Yes, the Bible is full of good advice, isn't it?

We ended up with about four inches of snow today. It went from looking like fall to looking like winter. We have a lot of evergreens and when they all looked "flocked", it really changes the landscape. You can tell I'm from California when a snow covered tree reminds me of flocking.

Actually pine trees are a big reason that we moved up here. I hate palm trees and have always loved the forest. No offense to anyone from Los Angeles, but that place had gotten just a little too weird for us, even though we were both raised there. After the Northridge earthquake we were DONE with that area and figured out how to move. We seem to fit in much better around here.

ha! aint that right! hee hee hee

my pal in seattle said it was kinda snowing there - what a hoot. i lived there for nearly 20 yrs and it barely snowed...since i left its been non stop(almost).

dontcha love ducks in the snow!??!?! they'll figure out its not bugs but until then its nothing but hilarity.

i cant wait to see the pup in the snow - she's got so many wiggles right now i think her head will blow apart when she sees it. we are due to get hit on thursday with the white stuff
;-)

tell your man that i'm behind him with the shorts in snow.. i still cant wear a jacket (most of the time i carry it) and i'd rather wear shorts year round.

sending hugs and wishes for a happy monday!!!!

Had a full 24 hours. As I went to leave work Monday after an uneventful day, hubby called to let me know snow made our road impassable for my subaru. He barely made it up the hill in the jeep and almost slid off the road at one point and nearly got stuck in the snow at another. My car is lower and would not have made it at all. Plus, he is the more experienced driver in the snow, I'm a real novice at it (being from Los Angeles and all).

So I went to our daughter's house. I'll call her Bud because that has always been her nickname, it was her baby name that we never stopped calling her. She had little rosebud lips. In any event, that is not her name. She has a baby now that I'll call MiniBud because she is a clone. But I had to drop in on them unexpectedly....uh...can I spend the night???? It worked out okay and this morning I was able to chug up the hill with a load of hay, groceries and cat food. Everyone was happy.

But when we read our Facebook page today, we found out about the death of a dear old friend. We had just recently reconnected through FB and learned she has a seven-year-old child among other things, and a full happy family, or at least, they were happy. My husband is especially crushed as she was his lifelong friend; I just knew her after he and I met. But she came to our wedding reception and everything, and I found she had married into the family of another dear friend. Very sad here, my hubby especially. She was only 46, they don't know yet how she passed. :hit

Well we seemed to find plenty to be thankful for and had a nice celebration with the extended family. It is nice because most of us live in one section of the country. A few more are clustered in Arizona and I have not seem them as much as I would like since we moved up here.

Had a heck of a time getting to work Friday in the snow. I do NOT like driving in it! Slid down the hill, backed into a snow bank. Had to go backwards and forwards 50 times to get out of the spot, it seemed like.

Was reading on BYC that the sun is on a 19-year cycle and will have the weakest rays for the upcoming winter. It seems to be effecting the chickens....maybe this is why we had so much "egg eating"....they were not laying any. But lots of folks are having low egg production, not just me, because the sun is on a low point on a 19 year cycle as far as how many UV rays are getting to us. I was thinking that I had better get used to this driving in snow, we may have a lot more of it before we are through!

I hope we don't! I got so tired of it last year. And while I don't mind looking at some pics of it, I'm not ready to see any yet! (Except I wouldn't mind a couple of inches just to make things pretty for Christmas.)

SD, is this your first winter there? Pretty soon you'll be an old pro at driving in the snow if you're not already! I think subarus are pretty good in the snow.

I kept a pair of snow pants, an extra pair of gloves, hand warmer packs, snow boots, hat, bag of sand, shovel, blocking, box of granola bars, flares, flashlights, a chore jacket, extra pair of socks, water bottles, chains and a set of thermals in the back of mine. This was back when I was in college driving back and forth between WY and MT and when we lived in Spokane driving I90 back and forth between there and my folks in Bozeman.

yup -its nice to have the extra boots, warm hat and scarf, blanket, handwarmers, flashlight, etc in the car - then when you unexpectedly go off the road when you are dressed for work, you can cope. makes it soooo much better.

speaking from experience...

the good thing is that with lots of snow, it is usually a pretty soft landing when you go into the ditch assuming you don't smack into anything.

if you are new at snow driving, go find a parking lot (empty) and practice!
