I went through something simular, but without the hair loss. I spoke with my hair stylist, and she told me that it was not dandruff, that you would notice an odor with dandruff, and DO NOT use dandruff shampoo if you don't have it because it will dry your scalp more, and cause more itching and flaking!

What helped me was drinking much much more water, washing my hair a bit more often, and before washing when my hair was still dry used my nails to massage/exfoliate my scalp(this also helps circulation and stimulates hair growth) then after shampooing, I used either coconut oil, olive oil or my regular conditioner and put it directly on my scalp. then condition as usually and rinse well.

I'm not sure what the cause for all of this was, my hair lady told me it was just common dry scalp, and sometimes the things we do you cure it, only aggravate the problem. I just know I HATED it, and I hope that it clears up for you soon!!!

Good luck!

Thanks for the response. I've been doing the massage, and have decided to ditch the dandruff shampoo - its not helping, and I think it is too rough on my hair. More water - that's something I should try to do anyway, so I'll make more of an effort. I am a major tea drinker, but don't drink much "just plain" water.
