Oh brother. If I had to nurse a baby in public, I always covered up with a receiving blanket and they never knew.

She just wanted to do show and tell, huh.

Bubbling, I read this thread to my husband, and he hollered "Call Greenpeace!" lol

I breastfed all three of my children for as long as they wanted (which, for two of them turned out to be about 10 months and then they started demanding a cup). I tried to be as unobtrusive as possible so as not to offend anyone because I've always felt that if you get "in your face" about a cause, you tend to cause more harm than good to said cause.
I would say that the art of being considerate towards others has certainly been lost by many today.
I want to see babies fed naturally if at all possible! But I know that today we face health and social issues that make it more difficult then ever for mamas to do that.
I have had to swallow a great deal of pride in bottle feeding my adopted baby, and that has been good for me.

I love the greenpeace statement  It fits well :gig

Yes, and I can guarantee that if anyone had even hinted that she was doing that, it would have been ugly. Being militant about it cannot be all that healthy all around.

I can honestly say that where I now live, I have never seen this. But I grew up near Lawrence, Kansas, and it is well known for being super forward/liberal/anything can and should go. And you know what? I do not miss it. I appreciate a little decency in behavior, regardless of what that entails.
We all make different choices, but it can be hard to respect some of them in others :( :D

I nursed in public many many times. Often I woud sit on a park bench, or a bench in the mall and BF, and people next to me didn't even know that I was doing it. One time I was in th mall and a man next to me started up a conversation. We talked for about five minutes before I brought my son up (b/c he was done). Th man said, Oh, I didn't realize you were nursing, and got up and left. i alwasy wore loose or baggy shirts, and never had a problem of letting them all hang loose.

And tube tops are disgusting.

I'm not sure when "forward" and "free thinking" started to include "rude" and "indecent" but it really has.

If you aren't shocking and offending, you aren't proving you are against the establishment? I LIKE basic manners.
