I am reminded of the German writing that is attributed to Martin Niemoller.

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Communist;

And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a trade unionist;

And then they came for the Jews, And I didnt speak up because I wasnt a Jew;

And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."

Could it all happen again using incremental government control through legislation for the common good such as the safety of the children, the need to get the economy going again, the safety of the food supply, saving the planet, global warming which is now being cloaked in the new term "climate change", and anything else that can be dreamed up?

Well now.

The government can already take your land through federal eminent domain.

They can give you property to a company. http://citizen-networks.org/pec/notice-description.tcl?newsletter_id=6997042

They can even give it to another private individual. If it is deemed "the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" ". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._City_of_New_London "After his victory in 1066, William the Conqueror seized virtually all land in England. Although he maintained absolute power over the land, he granted fiefs to landholders who served as stewards, paying fees and providing military services." (also from the above Wikipedia article.)

With NAIS they tried to tag all of our food (we homesteaders regard our animals as our food)

AND look at this one http://www.heritage.org/research/labor/wm2341.cfm

Whoopie. I love government control.

I think that the first thing is to understand that this can really happen.

A lot of people just give the government a pass.

I think this quote is based on the one by Rabbi Hillel, a rabbi who lived 70 BCE - 10 CE

If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
If I am not for others, what am I?
And if not now, when?

Be careful about getting bent out of shape about something only a few can see and most are blind to...they call it conspiracy theories, and then they call you crazy. ;)
