If it meant getting a property, I'd do the same thing. Keep your larger goal in mind. In today's world, it is very difficult to impossible to save a lot of money fast for a property and be ss at the same time.

I didn't. I worked like a maniac for a couple of years when my business was at its peak (I was younger!) and saved enough for a down payment and enough to build our little barn. After moving here I worked a couple more years to get fencing, land clearing, bulldozing, etc so I could finally do what I wanted to do.....so YOU GO, GIRL!!!!

Debt-free means you are AHEAD of many of us :D
Just what I was thinking!!

You are taking the time to get more prepared and reassessing what will work best for you, your family and the animals involved instead of trudging on with something that won't work for you right now. That is the true spirit of SS! Reasses constantly and reformate as neccessary!

Don't let it get you down....the timing is not right for me to be SS either.

You've got great plans and are doing the right thing....everything will come together in it's own time.

There is no "keeping up with the Joneses" in SS! We are all here for different reasons, and making money to buy land is a great goal! You now have knowledge of how to keep and raise rabbits. Knowledge is never a waste, even if you move on from the activity. I learned how to spin years and years ago, and put it down for years. I have gone back to it now and enjoy it more. I was out of horses for years after having them all my life. I now have more horses (3 of them retirees!) than I know what to do with.

When it is time those cages you are keeping will have rabbits in them again and you will be ahead of the game because you already know what it is to keep them.

I dont think anyone here is dissapointed! I know I am not even near the level of SS as most here. I dont bake bread...but I know how...I dont make yogurt..but I am learning how. I too put away my spinning for now...but I learned how! We are trying to get this place paid off before its too late...THATS our SS goal...to be debt free. You are ahead of the game there. No need to " keep up with the jones" If the Jones are not doing what makes YOU happy.

I'm no where near as SS as most folks here either! ;) Don't feel like a sell out. Sometimes, we all have to do things in our life to get to a place we'd rather be, and will be better off being there.

I don't remember who said it, but I agree, there is no such thing as wasted knowledge.

As so many others have said, don't feel bad about this decision. You gotta do what YOU gotta do, not what anyone else thinks you should or to keep up with anyone here. Or anywhere else for that matter.
