Maybe??? I'm going on memory here since dh is the car fixer dude.
Ask about when people hear the break pad telltale a full 12,000 miles before needing replacement and thought it was just a squeak and once the pawl is worn away won't alert you anymore.
I thought brake pads squealed b/c there was a stone lodged in the pad.??

:D
Just for others info there is a small wire whisker that once the pad wears thin rubs on the disc and make a squealing noise - time to change you pads girls and possibly have the discs turned too if you wait too long. Don't know much about the newer models but it is there on the older ones

The Wife understands completely. She knew going in that I had a LOT of female customers, and that could NOT be problem, unless of course she wanted to support me and all my toys... :D :D :D :D :D :D

And all the rest of you that were gonna call before my shower?....

YOUR TOO LATE! :plbb :plbb :plbb

I'll second that info. If you hear the squeal, check the pads. If you wait too long then you will have rotor damage. If you have rotor damage, hopefully turning them will take care of it. If not, you will need to replace the rotors. This expense can totally be avoided if you listen to your car and keep an eye on the brake pads.

I think BBH's name corruption "SCR8PN" is a convoluted Freudian slip and really meant - SCReaming 8ape.

Ok, I have one for you gear heads. My dh can't figure this one out. 96 F250 diesel. Old horse trailer, but it is not the trailer since the problem happens with other trailers also.

The truck stalls when the brakes are applied while pulling the trailer. Loose wires have been looked for, and the alternator (which was faulty, but not the problem) has been changed. It can't be the brake wiring on the trailer, as I said, it happens with the neighbours trailer also. could it be the manual brake controller in the truck cab? anything else that should be looked at?
