Back when life was different I took my daughter to Cancun as her Christmas present.

No shopping, cooking, or decorating to do; plus you can have a massage on the beach on Christmas day.

Now I just do the no shopping, cooking or decorating and it is not nearly as much fun.

I hope to do the holiday vacation again someday.

Dace hit the nail on the head with her response. I got this in my email this morning, thought it fit.
If you are going to stay up too late at night, not getting enough sleep just so you can re-arrange the dried holly berries and leaves for your centerpiece - you might have lost perspective

If you are spending time and money that you can't afford on the cutest cookies ever - you might have lost perspective

If you are not letting your children participate in the decorating for the holidays because they don't do it "right - you might have lost perspective

If you are yelling at your kids because you have lost your patience for the very last time over spilled sprinkles for the cookies - you might have lost perspective

If you have gone behind your family and have re-done the Holiday decorations because they weren't what YOU wanted them to be - you might have lost perspective

If you have spent a hundred dollars on Holiday magazines that will show you the perfect table setting, recipes, and gifts for this year - you might have lost perspective

If you are rolling your eyes and sighing at your husband because he just won't help you do anything (because you haven't actually told him what you need) - you might have lost perspective

Keep your perspective.

Well said everyone!

We did a Happy Birthday Jesus party last weekend at church! Kids loved it!

We also decided to do a NO ELECTRICITY christmas this year. The children were not allowed to have anything that required electricity to operate. Got them jump ropes, hula hoops, legos, dress up clothes (from the thrift store), books, jacks, TWISTER!!! It's gonna be an old fashioned christmas this year, one that makes kids use their imaginations and makes them get physical!

1) Live too far away from all your relative for them to visit
2) Wear comfy pajamas with snowmen, candy canes, or other holiday motif ALL DAY
3) After you shower, put on a clean, different clean pair of holiday jammies and stay in your jammies ALL DAY

Oh yeah, cleaning up dog pee in an ice cold house has its charms, too.

I thought this would be a good thing to do....I have a couple of things that I do that make holidays a little easier and thought I would share. I know we all do things a little differently and maybe this would be a good way to share ideas.

Tip #1---put your strings of lights on those bright orange extension cord rollers. You can get these anywhere. Use one for each different area that you use lights. I have one cord keeper for the house lights, one for the tree lights, one for the fence lights (right side) and one for the fence lights (left side). I label each one and keep all of them in a rubbermaid container and each year I know where everything goes and no tangled lights!

Okay, so here are some of mine, now share yours! Happy holidays everyone!!!
For my tree lights I used to use the inner tube from wrapping paper, I cut a slit in each side then wrapped and wrapped the lights around the tube and shoved the plug end down the one slit.

YOu can also use an old wire coat hanger - I pull the center at the bottom of the hanger down, so its more like a square with a hook on one corner, then kinda do a figure of 8 around and around with the lights.
