So sorry, Sally. :( Maybe she might need a flock mate in the pen with her now so she won't be dispirited...do you think? I know my big sheep couldn't stand it when they are separated, even if they have a lamb to feed. Even when they were only separated by a slatted gate...they just needed to be closer to each other. Maybe that is the way it is in a smaller flock like ours.

I'm hoping she will come out of this and be back to her sheeply self soonest. :fl

Awww, So sorry to hear she lost the lambs. I hope she recovers. I lost 2 ewes last year the same way. It was hard! When I got my sheep the lady told me that her dad said.... you dont have enough room for sheep....she replied, Dad, I have 15 acres, thats enough....then he said...you dont have enough room to bury them all, sheep look for a way to die. She almost talked me right out of getting sheep....but, I have them. I love my Shetlands...they have the best wool, and are so sweet. I agree with Bee, I think she needs a companion in with her.

You guys have been really sweet, thank you so much. (Rough year for me, I tell ya.)

I did have her up in the 'barn' for a while, when she was really bad. Yesterday a.m. she got enough strength to take herself back down to the flock (on the other side of the fence though) before she went into labor. I didn't have the heart to bring her back up again. Thankfully the weather is very nice today. (The ram lamb has been standing vigil with her, on his side of the fence.)

She is still down though. The placenta hasn't passed yet either. I'm still keeping up with her 'treatments' every 2-3 hours. I'm also going to get the herbal supplement that Merle suggested. I'm worried b/c she hasn't perked up since the still births yesterday. :/

eta: I did milk her this morning. First time I ever milked anything. I did it to try to get her to pass the placenta. I'll keep trying.

She took a nibble of hay!!! I take that as a very gooood sign. *breaths a HUGE sigh of relief*

I've been milking her and I gave her some goat milk yogurt and lots of water via drench tool thingy. She got up (yes I've been on my hands and knees milking her) and wandered over to the hay and took a nibble. She is back down now, however she is showing interest in the feed I have there for her..so I'm not as worried.

You know there isn't much info out there on how to get a ewe through recovery so I'm kinda just winging it. Thanks to you all for hints, tips and suggestions. Great big thanks to Bee, Aggie and Merle for pm-ing me etc.

WHEW!

So are you sure she still has the placenta? Not eaten it on the sly?

Not sure about that. One would hope she ate it. :fl

She is more alert than she has been in these few days. She is glancing at sounds we are making around the barnyard etc.
