I'd be going to the doctor. My niece was ill and wound up being so sick she spent 5 days in the hospital over an infection. She was still playing and such too...almost on par with normal activity, but she was dehydrated and had a severe UTI. I wouldn't play around with pneumonia either. It is one of those things that can affect them later in life if not caught soon. Don't want to permanently damage little lungs with that junk. I hope she gets feeling better and it is nothing serious :hugs I'd err on the side of caution with this one though. Poor kiddo :(

well Dace, ya know, we said to ourselves a million times, WHY WOULD someone lie around on the couch for 2 weeks knowing they aren't feeling well???? this just drives me nuts ya know. We keeping thinking if Betty Ann would have just went for meds she could still be here today. Honestly I don't understand sometimes, because I am not a Dr. person either, but if "I get that feeling" I am going before it is too late. So many wait and I just don't understand it at all??? :idunno

Ugh...FC, that is me!
About 2 yrs ago I was sooooo sick and it just would not go away. I joked with Hubby that I was dying. In hindsight, that was really stupid, but we did not have insurance, so I figured I would tough it out

Not very smart.

Thanks Wanna....I'll get her in to be checked!

I did that about 3 years ago. I knew I had bronchitis becuase I get it EVERY year. I always lay up and drink some hot liquids, but this time I couldn't get over it. Then I started rattling and couldn't breathe. We didn't have insurance and were pretty well broke, but I knew I had to go then. I had pneumonia in the left lung. I got a shot in the rear-OUCH! Then some meds which I took. Three days after I finish the antibiotics I got bad sick again the same way. I went back and had pneumonia in the other lung. First lung had cleared up. I ended up talking them out of the hospital in exchange for going in for a shot in the rear every day for 5 days! 5xOUCH! I couldn't hardly sit down for a while after that. Taught me.

Peace of mind would be worth the visit at this point I'd bet!
I've only had pneumonia once as an adult. It knocked me on my butt. But it took about 4 days for me to realize that I was that sick because I was so busy and stressed at the time (Packing to leave for Russia to adopt DS). I made myself so sick I almost couldn't go!
Hope she feels better soon and that you can relax once you know what she's got. :hugs

I am thinking that this warrents a visit to the dr. Not my usual approach but aren't fever and cough a concern together? The thing is she seems mostly fine. Not sleepy or sickly....just blowing her nose a lot and coughing.
If it is NOT pneumonia yet (you know it but that DEEP cough), have her do yoga breathing once an hour (basically any time she or you think about it). Take a slow deep breath and once your lungs are really full, expel hard.

It will make you cough if you have anything settling but can stop or slow pneumonia from taking hold.

I got pneumonia once after a 2 month bout of bronchitis that I couldn't kick. People at work were all sharing walking Pneumonia. So with it "going around" in her school... yeh.

Since you said you're taking her, I'll just say hope it goes smoothly :)

I'd only worry about pneumonia if you hear crackles, rattles or weird noises in her lungs. Lay your ear on her chest and listen. That and a fever. But you should call the clinic/hospital and ask for triage help if you're not sure. It's free, and I have used it many, many times. They can also suggest how to help her at home if they don't think you need to bring her in. Best of luck!

Just wanted to share an update....all is well with the little princess.

I am glad that I took her in, but her fever had broke, her lungs were clear and her oxygen stats were great.

Yay! I am glad though that I did not delay, given the pneumonia exposure.....you just never know.

Good tip Me&.... gonna remember that!
