If it makes you feel any better, we have a foot of snow and it was about 10 degrees last night. So I am eating the turkey eggs!!! Hoping she is still laying when spring actually gets here!

I stood in the parking lot at the grocery store watching a flock of Canada geese flying over head. There had to be 40 or more!
It was 7 degrees here last night. But Saturday will be 55 and Sunday is supposed to hit 60!

Now I am jealous!

There was a scuffle in their pen while I was milking a few minutes ago, so I was hoping they were mating, but I couldn't really see from where I was crouched. Mya has little patience for me not following the routine she has taught me....yep, that goat tolerates nothing but perfection in the milking routine, and has taught me well in a very short time. I'd imagined I would find a person to teach me, but her timetable dictated that I learn online and then from her!!!

Milking is a sign of spring.....sort of.....I saw two geese flying overhead today, honking. The ponds are frozen solid and the fields are covered with snow. Hope they can hold out for a bit.

I don't think our Canadians ever left and neither did our Great Blue Herons. Another sign of spring around here? The first plowing of the season....you know, the old timers around here turn over the soil with a big, deep plowing around this time, supposedly to expose the grubs and other pests to the frigid temps. I've never really agreed with all the repeated and deep plowings, but that's how the country folk do it around these parts.

Oh! And the willow trees are turning colors....getting ready to spring! :D

Can't wait to see our herons return. And the willows-there is nothing quite like the color they turn in early spring. Ah!
I have a pair of cardinals hanging out in my holly bushes. I think they'll be nesting sooner or later. We're getting there.

I hope you get some Spring soon, Morel!

I know I'm so sick of snow it isn't funny! Ours is gone now, but everything is still frozen.
