Mr. Sunshine
We do have a state income tax and a sales tax of 6%. Some municipalities have an added sales tax amounting to usually .5 to 2 percent.KevsFarm said:I can't believe your property taxes are so low, how in the world can your state govt. function with such low property taxes..? Do you have a big sales tax on food, etc...? They must be getting money from somewhere, or else have one heck of a small budget..!!
In my situation this works out generally pretty good, as I don't have enough reportable income to pay state income tax, I raise a large percentage of my food and I do most of my general purchases online to avoid having to drive into town. All in all, it works out rather well for me.
I also have a good deal worked out with a couple of pawn shops to buy the silver that they take in at the melt price, and I'm not required to pay sales tax on it.
BTW, pawn shops can be a good place to buy silver. Generally they end up sending it to a buyer that pays them below spot price, plus they have to go through the hassle of packing it up and mailing it. By selling it to me at melt price they are saving time, effort, and getting more money for it. Plus I get the silver cheaper than I can usually buy it elsewhere.
