I got an extra gallon of milk from work so I made a double batch of rice pudding for dh today. Also, finally made the elderberry syrup. It seems a little watery but has a great flavor with the added ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Next I will make another quart of fire cider and we should be set! Never got sick at all last year! Winter, that is.
I'm pretty much just staying busy with housework and commitments. I do hope to make elderberry jelly this weekend and then be done with elderberries. Any extra, I will dry for future use.
I get to wash the lovebugs off the jeep tomorrow. I read to use a dryer sheet dipped in water. Will give it a try.
Listening to mama cows in the pasture bellowing for their 400 pound babies that were just taken away today. They are still here but in a far away pasture or there would be lots more noise! Guess I will read a bit and then get to bed. You all have a great weekend!
No raisins for me, FEM! Plenty of cinnamon though!
Made the elderberry jelly today.
Hope I am done with them for the most part! The jelly is a pain to make but the taste reminds me of (the good parts) of childhood! I wonder if one can purchase seagrapes? Have to google that one. Haven't done a lot else today and don't have plans to--except dinner-- tacos tonight!
Been a bit since I last posted. The elderberry tincture is done and it is the worst thing I have ever tasted!!! I'd have to be really sick or add sweetener to get it down. Maybe with a little sugar it would be like elderberry wine!
My jeep is still running great but we have not been able to get it into the mechanics as they are too busy.
I will be planting half lick tubs of onions and garlic in a day or two. All I have right now is the never dying jalapeno plant and some lettuce and mint in hanging baskets.
The pups are all good and I am going to help out at the dairy making cheesecakes for a few weeks.
Sunday I made a beef and bean dish in the crockpot and a big pot of chicken veggie soup so I had extra to freeze of both. Won't have quite as much time off for a bit.
There is really not much else going on right now. Don't have to prepare for winter like those up north. Hurricane season is another story! Take care all!!!
This morning I went grocery shopping for myself and the little lady that I "see to" every day. She is 88 and a hoot! I just love her! Getting ready to shred potatoes for hashbrowns and then to make burrito filling and pico de gallo for this weeks breakfasts.
Not much else on todays list but to watch a few recorded shows. Tomorrow I start making cheesecakes for Thanksgiving week.
I haven't been here for a couple of years (computer issues). I do have google chrome now, so we will see if that helps. We are still in MS but planning on moving back to FL after the election chaos is over, in the spring. I'm going to try to catch up a little on the goings on here. Just posting a little bit in case my browser throws me off again! Hi and I've missed you all!!!
Well that worked! Yay! Since my last post, both of my sweet schnauzers have passed on. So did the little lady I was taking care of. DH's health is a little better (as good as it will get).
And I'm snappy1 now instead of snapshot. Just trying to make this work!
