For the past couple of years, I've been wanting a large, plastic sled to use to put out square bales of hay when it snows. We had so much snow the past 2 winters, that they were sold out by the time I looked! And this year, since I was able to get RBs, I didn't bother to look. But, I still wanted one for just in case.

Recently, I saw an ad on CL. Someone had a whole bunch of sleds for $5 a piece! So, I contacted the person. RU also wants some of them. The person has responded-by e-mail. I have given her my cell phone number, but for some reason, all she does is e-mail. I'm sorry, I just don't have the time to sit on my computer and check my e-mails all day long, especially since she's not apparently getting all of mine. I'm about to the point of telling her that if she can't call me so we can set up a time to forget it. I don't know how many times I checked yesterday, and finally got an e-mail late about maybe meeting up today. I sent her back an e-mail telling her to call, and I've heard nothing. She has a ton of stuff for sale, but if this is how she does w/everyone, it ain't going to sell.

The e-mails would be fine-if they responded. But, they don't. That's just it. I've just sent her another e-mail telling her I'm getting frustrated. I CANNOT sit on my computer all day long hoping she's going to respond. She wanted to meet up today in a nearby town. Fine, as long as it fits my schedule. But, when she doesn't say when or where, I cannot even tell!

I try to do nothing over the phone
I do everything by email if I can.

I hate customers calling my home at all hours, and I get the 'I am right around the corner and want soaps--can I come over?'
I don't even answer the phone anymore. I let recorder get it all the time. People would come for soap and stay 2-3 hrs. petting the goats. I don't have that time to give.

you are right tho. if you do emails, you must respond fast to people. cause people don't have time to wait and check for an email if they want to meet up.
if you emailed YOUR number this person should call you! that stinks.

hope it pans out for you! $5 each is so cheap

Yep, and that's what's so frustrating. She said she could meet up today in a nearby town, but didn't give a time nor a place. I told her that would be find-as long as it fit in w/my schedule and then asked if she had gotten my e-mail about which ones I wanted. Her response? No, she didn't get it, but STILL nothing about a time or a place. Since then, I've sent her 2 e-mails and have heard nothing in response. She has a total of 70 items for sale. And, if this is how she's going to respond to people, then she's not going to sell much. If she doesn't respond, I'm not contacting her again. The ball is in her court. I just don't have the time to deal w/all this.

The few times I have tried to respond to a "sale item" listed in CL...the seller has never replied back. I don't know what is up with that. I have done phone # and email.

I've been trying to set something up since Friday. It took her until Sunday to respond to my 1st e-mail. If she doesn't get back to me, I'm not going to try anymore. I can understand about not wanting to give out your phone number, but when you have someone who WANTS to buy something, I would think you'd try a bit harder to respond quicker.

yea that is what is frustrating. YOU WANT it and she couldn't care less about selling it to you. I hate it too when people are so lax on their end like that.

hang in there Deb. It might all work out UGH

When I listed the tractor canopy on CL I gave the first response time to check out the canopy before letting others see it. Figured if I set a time for the first one, the others had to wait. I did tell the second and third responses that I would get back to them afterwards and let them know the outcome--and did. The third responder was an idiot and said for me to consider it sold and give him my address to send a check. Hah. I specified cash only. They repeated the response. First one bought it thank goodness!

All of that to say--for me it can be a little confusing and your lister may just take whoever has the money first. Too bad she is not responding quickly. I did not give my phone # either but I did check the computer often. I hate to think what that idiot would have done with my phone #! Good luck!!!! I hope you do get some of the sleds!!!!!!
